Remember EBS tests, those holdovers from the Cold War?

On Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 1 p.m. Central Standard Time, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Federal Communications Commission, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will conduct the first nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System.

It's Obamas way of controling the media, the station doesn't have to agree the gov't will do it anyway!    At least that's what crazy uncle Glenn thinks. ;)

Why didnt they utilize the cellular providers to also send text messages? I didnt see it because I was in a meeting room, away from my computer and internet radio, but if they had sent a text or an email I would have seen it.

Here it was a big nothing. The alert signal came into the public broadcasting center but never went out to any radio, tv, or cable system.
