QuoteWe're not the normal Tex-Mex restaurant with a cantina theme," said Hillary Delling, marketing manager for Chuy's. "We play rock 'n' roll music. We have crazy pictures on the wall. It's fun and family-friendly.

¿Do the employees wear flair?

"rock and roll"?  Does she wear blue suede shoes?

The real Chuy's is in Van Horn, TX.  It was founded in 1959, 27 years before the "original" Chuy's in Austin, and has a very different ambiance than the rock-n-roll approach the chain has. As far as I can tell, they are totally unrelated. I've eaten there several times, mainly because you get to Van Horn around dinner time in a one-day drive from Tulsa to El Paso.  Next time I eat there I'll have to ask them why they didn't defend their trademark.

The walls in the Van Horn Chuy's are covered with sports memorabilia from all of the college and some pro sports teams who have stopped there on their way to or from El Paso.  They are very proud of being in the John Madden "Haul of Fame."  Try the chiles rellenos.
