Anyone up for some Action Erection?

We went last night.  This is at the old Speedy Gonzalez restaurant and could be a decent facility.  There was one person there when we arrived, who left after just a few minutes.  (Did not see whether he stopped outside to barf or not.)

Walking in the door was an absolutely disgusting experience.  The cigarette smoke reeked so badly that we almost turned around and left.  Moving to the right side of building to sit lessened the smoke so we sat.  After ordering, the cigarette smoke has apparently just not made its way there yet, so the concentration increased throughout the experience (notice I did NOT say meal.)  Where is the health department enforcement of no smoking laws in restaurants when you need them??

Things we tried;
Coleslaw - very good.
Potato salad - fair.  Could have been very good with just a tiny touch of salt and maybe a little more mustard - but not much of either.
Baked beans - clearly an attempt to channel the Knotty Pine.  Did not work.  Not sure what they forgot, but it didn't make it.

All the meats we were served obviously were boiled meat with no rub, no flavor and no time in a smoker or over a grill.

Ribs - very tender, as in fall off the bone, with plenty of meat (too much as it turns out).  Very bad tasting due to no taste at all.  Outside of meat was texture of boiled meat (all the meats were).  Kind of fatty ribs.

Brisket - probably the best thing they have, but very bland.  Sliced brisket was cut about 1" thick.  Little chewier than should be.  Again, boiled meat appearance on outside.

Pulled pork - very tender, bad taste just like ribs.  No flavor, not even a dash of salt.  Very watery inside and out - NOT juicy.

Sauce is another attempt to channel the Knotty Pine.  Just didn't quite get there.  Most of the flavor was there, but there was something missing that I just can't put my finger on.  If the meat had been edible, it would have helped the sauce a lot.  Still, sauce was marginally edible, instead of horrible.

Took leftovers with us, and went to Jenks to drive Main street to see decorations.  By the time we got off the turnpike, had to stop at McDonald's to get a coke to take the taste out of our mouths.  By the time we finished driving around, about another hour, the smell in the vehicle was making all of us nauseous.  As soon as reached home, put all of it in the trash in the garage and tied the bag closed so the smell wouldn't get into the house.

Anyone have a better experience with this????

If this is some of the Knotty Pine people (please, God, let it not be!), they have lost the touch.  It is NOT Knotty Pine food.  There are issues.

And the other eight just make a turd.

Sounds like an "other eighter"

Thanks for the warning.  WTH is up with the cigarette smoke in a restaurant?  Are you kidding?

Thought that was illegal now anyway...do they have a full bar in the restaurant?

Covering up some other odor?

Didn't see a bar, but maybe in back?

Yes, it is illegal to have smoking area at a restaurant without a separate air handling system.  Which is a farce.  Louies' in Moore has that, but it doesn't work.  Buffalo Wild Wings, too.  Also doesn't work.

Who had six months in the betting pool?

I'm wondering if they didn't have some kind of deal with Knotty Pine....now that they appear to be back on track.

Not sure about that, I do know, however, that Knotty Pine's sauce is very unique.  Action Erection was using it.

Okay, there's something very wrong about "sauce" and "Action Erection" in the same post.

Funny. . .I also don't find any mention of them being registered as a retail food vender with the Tulsa County Health Dept.

Perhaps that's it???

Just because you have an Erection. . . . . . . .company does not mean you can sell your meat.
