A couple of years ago someone had left a suitcase just outside the door of the PO entrance, so I went around the corner and reported it to the guys manning the metal detectors at the main Federal Building entrance.
They meandered over there after about five minutes and put a "wet floor" cone next to it so that the Post Office customers still walking past it wouldn't trip over it.
About a half hour later they found someone with an X-ray machine to look at it.
Yawn.

I guess all the cameras are for decoration.
