QuoteI never think of Queenie's and they never advertise, yet that place does great business day after day.

Yeah I don't get it. Their food is very run of the mill.  But they are packed all the time.

QuoteThanks for all the replies! Went to Blue Dome diner for breakfast this morning and wasn't really impressed with their pancakes. They were overly greasy and tasted like meat. Next stop is Corner Cafe in 2 weeks.

Sorry You had a bad experience.  I have never once been disapointed there.  In fact, my wedding reception was there because of their pancakes.  Our wedding cake was a stack of pancakes.  Yes they are frozen in our freezer waiting for our one year aniversary.  Ps.: thanks ot DSJefferies for officiating!

Also, since when is something tasting like meat a bad thing?  ;D

Things are supposed to taste like they are supposed to taste.  I remember a small restaurant in GA on the way to FL from PA when I was a kid.  They advertised seafood on their billboard.  I think they must have used fish oil to cook with.  Even the fries tasted like one of those swimming, scaled animals.

I go either there or Blue Moon usually once a week for breakfast.  Both are outstanding with a lot of options, and outdoor seating when the weather is nice.

Never had them greasy and they use pumpkin pie spice (among other things) to season them. Never tasted a thing like meat to me.

My guess is a new grill cook cooked the pancakes too close to the sausage or something. Likely a 1-time thing. I'd let them know and see if they will offer you free replacements.

I am going to eat pancakes this Saturday at the Red Fork Lion's building in west Tulsa. The address is 4111 W. 41st street.

It goes from 7am till 11am but I am going to be there around 8am. Find me and I will buy your breakfast.

Growing up, when we could afford bacon, we fried it very crisp, crumbled it into medium size pieces, placed on the griddle and poured pancake batter over it.  Yum!  Kind of like blueberry additive, but savory.  Now that I started talking about it, am getting hungry - I think I will go home tonight and make some!

The only heads up is to use real butter and real maple syrup - very sparingly!  An egg, easy over setting on top of the pancake will work very well, too!

I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently.  I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they are not alone.

MC and I finally tried Blue Dome Diner's pancakes on Saturday morning after a trip through the Cherry St. Farmer's Market.

Neither of us could tell any discernible difference between Blue Dome and Tally's.  Main difference is: you can get in, eat, and get out at Tally's in about the amount of time it takes to get your food at BD on a busy Saturday morning.  Easily 45 minutes from the time we sat down until our food arrived.

Not a complaint at all, we enjoyed people watching and sipping the great coffee.  We saw everything from older folk to younger people who looked and smelled just like buffalo.  They serve a lot of people at the BD, I was actually impressed they manage to serve as many as they do.

I'd recommend Tally's if you are in more of a hurry when you want your pancakes, otherwise Blue Dome is an excellent recommendation.  Their quiche rocks too!

Next on the list to try is Corner Cafe.

Oh, yum!  And yum!  And yum!

Last time we went by Phoenix, I intentionally went around the south way.  Will go through next time.  Gawd, that chicken fried with egg looks good!!!!

The first time I went to Blue Dome Diner, I had their oatmeal and loved it!  I know, why the heck order oatmeal??  I just had a craving for it that morning! ha!  I went with a big group and was able to taste my neighbor's foods.  I noticed the large portions of each order! WOW!  The pancake was really delicious, too!  I took my son there a few months later and he enjoyed it as well.
