Not that there's anything wrong with it.
My only problem is the blatant attention grabbing people that want everyone to know and accept their choice of a lifestyle that is uncomfortable for a large part of the World.

Soooo, gay people can't do what everyone else does because if they do it's blatant attention grabbing?  So I guess then, that their "chosen lifestyle" means "don't do what everyone else does, or be like everyone else" your supposed to be different.  Hmmm,,, but then it wouldn't be a chosen lifestyle it would then be forced on you by the majority/"large part of the world".

Or perhaps I don't get what you mean by "chosen lifestlye"?

Perhaps it's others who have "chosen" to be uncomfortable.

I knew that would probably ruffle feathers and this has alway's been a great way to get varied opinions.
But if the actions of the two gentlemen is supposed to be so common. Why take the picture and write the story ?
By no means is this shocking in today's society. And I am still on the fence about the whole "Born that way" idea.

I'm of the opinion, we are coached too much to focus on our differences rather than what makes us all similar.  We are humans first.  All the other tribal identity should be secondary.

I've seen the same pic and a story written about hetero couples as well.

It should probably mean nothing to you if someone is born or not born a certain way.

I like brunettes.  I have no idea if that was always the case.

There's a good possibility some of these folks didn't care to have their picture taken.

And you are right. It doesnt matter to me if a person is born that way. I just see no need to write a song about it if one is not trying to draw attention to it.
And the best Woman ever in my life was a brunette.

So given the fact that gays have had to hide the fact for so long, it shouldn't be celebrated that they are now on equal terms?  Or they should just shut the hell up because the homophobics didn't get their way?

And I could never be a politician. I would end up like John Sullivan. saying something I didn't mean and it being taken out of context. There are just to many way's to take a persons words and twist them and make it sound like hate.
I have had gay friends and find some of the funniest people in the World are gay. The ones I have known are comfortable with who they are and have no desire to try and impress others to accept or not accept them.
I was just getting a feed back on a article I felt was unecessary.

How does that fit in with celebrating diversity in our lives?  I expect everyone here has had "Diversity" training at work.

Diversity is wonderful!  Expecting different or special treatment because of it sucks!

I suppose as long as articles like this get published (not sure if the people in the article asked to be in it) and then posted in a forum as a topic of discussion and mentioned as uncomfortable.... well I suppose that means the issue isn't as "unecessary" as we would like.

I know people hate this analogy, but if it were a black soldier grabbing and kissing his white wife or girl friend... well nobody would blink an eye or care.  But, there was a time when it very well could have been "attention grabbing", newsworthy and a topic of discussion.   Even if they tried to make it "attention grabbing" today, nobody would care and it wouldn't get published or posted on this forum.  Someday, hopefully, nobody will A. care to get attention even if they wanted to, B. care to give it any attention and write an article about it, or C. post that article in a forum.  It won't be any big deal.  The very fact that it is, on any side of the issue, imho means it just might still be necessary.

If people don't "see it" and dont have to think about it, or care that it exists, they won't likely change.  This will leave all those who are too afraid to do anything about that, hiding in the closet unable to be, do and say the same things that everyone else can.  Sometimes it takes those brave people stepping out and chipping away at fear and prejudice, and yes even making a big deal of it, even if they are just attention whores lol, to make the lives of the rest much more easier to, be like everyone else.
