Where he's lost my support is the way he brushed off his pilot error incident down in Texas

Actually some good came of that incident.  I don't remember the details but the FAA has a little less iron fist control over pilots involved in an oops.  I believe it has to do with access to records regarding the oops.

Quoteand his attitude toward any effort to rein in earmarks.

I have mixed feelings on the earmarks.  A unilateral position of not accepting earmarks will not reduce spending.  Your tax money will just go somewhere else.  The effort really needs to go to reduced spending.

If he doesn't run and the Republicans put up some religious wacko, I would seriously consider someone like Dan Boren who has complaints against him as not being blue enough.

Agreed on Boren.

I simply want a system where bills are literally five to ten pages long, and contain funding for that specific measure only- not something which looks like a pregnant golden retriever covered in ticks and fleas.  The reason being is it's the worst form of quid pro quo and is often times an effort to buy a legislator's vote when they might otherwise have a serious issue with the main legislation in a bill.  Earmarking has exploded in the last two decades, it's obviously being abused and could certainly be reined in.

All projects previously pushed as earmarks need to go through committee and become part of an omnibus spending bill.

That would be nice.  I'm not going to hold my breath waiting.

Did you really sit and watch that entire diatribe?  I can't get past the sheep dog wearing shades cum Axl Rose thing.
