You hate sidewalks.  Can't take you seriously anyway.

You are hardly a disinterested party as it was your post declared such an early thread winner.

I don't hate sidewalks everywhere.  They are fine downtown.  I don't think you are going to turn S Memorial into a pedestrian haven by putting in sidewalks.

On the flip side, if you build a sidewalk along Memorial between 111th and 131st by next year's Bixby BBQ Festival, I will use it.  There is already a trail/sidewalk from 131st south to at least across the river. There is a little bit done by 121st.  This year I got a ride to 131st and walked the rest of the way to the BBQ Festival.  When I was ready to leave, I called to say I would be at 131st in about 10 minutes.  Worked great.

And yet,...amazingly enough...that is exactly what he did!  After his oft-touted tax cuts, he presided over the largest tax increases in the history of the world until that time.

Did you get your loopholes closed?  My taxes went up with my salary but nothing excessive taxwise beyond the increased limit on salary subject to Social Security.  But then I didn't have a bunch of debt that I was making the other taxpayers help pay the interest.

Being such a fan of Reagan, how would you feel about going back to exactly the situation when he left office?  Or worse yet, going to the AVERAGE of the tax rate for his administration?

If he raised taxes so much, why would the average tax rate for his administration be so much worse than at the end of his administration?  Have you inhaled too much solder fumes?

His administration ended up with tax rates at about 38% or so.  The average through the entire 8 years was well over 50%.

It's not about making it a pedestrian haven, it's about making it possible for pedestrians to access the area without (excessive) risk to life and limb. I don't think anybody expects or even cares if a Lowe's at 111th and Memorial (or even 71st and Memorial) is built with an urban form.

Personally, I would like those who would reduce density in the older part of the city to be so kind.

I believe you were among the louder complainers that there was no sidewalk from Robertson Tire to the Game Stop or something like that.  I didn't really wish to reopen this bag of worms.  Townsend did.

The top marginal rate from 82 to 87 was 50% so it would be difficult to have an average well over 50%.
My 1988 Tax rate schedule shows a top marginal rate of 33%.

You should have gone to lead-free solder sooner.

Yeah, like I said, I think there should be sidewalks. I didn't say the whole area needs to be redeveloped to make it actually pedestrian friendly, only that it should not be designed to actively exclude them.

We've been through that all before.

Which brings us right back to the whole point - if Reagan's time was so great, then the current group of Murdochian's should be pleased - eager, even - to go back to what it was when it was so great.
