I debated whether or not to post this here because some might think I'm doing it for some political reason. I'm not. Biden's speech is incredibly moving and really captures the essence of what it means to lose a friend or family member, whether to war, poor health, or anything else. Hopefully everybody else can take as much from it as I did.

I'm guessing there aren't a lot of people on this board who give a rat's exit about what BB thinks.

I would be one of them.

Brains don't resonate well with Breadburner.

"So he brandished a gun, never shot anyone or anything right?"  --TeeDub, 17 Feb 2018.

I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently.  I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they are not alone.

More likely, he didn't even bother to click the little play button.

I became a rabid patriot about Veteran's at my grandfather's funeral. I was 12 years old at the time and was given the flag from his coffin from the Marines at the ceremony.

He told me many stories about the horror of lying in the water on Iwo Jima with his mortar battalion trapping by enemy fire. He also spoke of losing every friend in his company in a couple of hours of sniper fire.

Most of my mother's family went into the Marine Corps. and my cousin still serves in active duty in the middle east. My wife's family also has a proud history of military service including my niece who enlisted this past year in the Navy.

I couldn't do it. I am just a peacenik deep down and have an aversion to guns. But I am blessed to live in a country where brave people are willing to put their lives on the line to allow me the life I now lead.

To you grandfather, and to all of you who have served our country. This day will always be about your friends who died protecting America. I hope my life is worthy of your sacrifice.

Thank you.
