RM's a big boy.

The compliments just keep coming.

I appreciate your obsession with me, but I am married, straight, and just not in to you.

I am flattered, though.
Power is nothing till you use it.

It says you're weird. And guess what? I can say whatever I want to defend or attack others if the logic supports it. You are a little boy.

If only I had been called a "little boy" by a draft dodging coward, then maybe it wouldn't hurt so much...

I don't believe it. Given the timing of yours and your two protectors posts, I'd say the three of you are in the same room. Maynard, Zed, and the Gimp?

Gweed's losing his touch...having to re-hash old material.  Come on, counselor!

Whataprick. I dropped my 2s deferment for a year and was available for the draft. Uncle Sam didn't find my services necessary. At the end of that year the draft was discontinued.

Sorry about the little boy comment. You're infantile.

What about this:

Add me to the list. I was a 2-S until my year of exposure which ended about the time the draft ended. Wasn't there also a marriage deferment? Or maybe that was the dependent one. I seem to remember that I voluntarily dropped it in my jr. year. Anyway, I was ready to serve during my year of exposure though I had looked into moving to Canada or to my wife's family in Mexico as an alternative. Funny, I had family and friends who went. Not a one of them ever considered me a draft dodger or less than patriotic. In fact I was often told to avoid the military if possible. Not for fear of combat, but just that it was a frustrating, boring, job. My brother in law received a 2-S till he finished college then went to OCS and was shipped off.

I see you still have problems with reading comprehension.

I'm guessing you were a file clerk in the service. Otherwise you would likely have been fragged.

What was your lottery number?  Did you drop your 2S before you got your number?

Is there a central depository for Republican talking points?  (You don't know how hard I had to resist substituting " suppository" for depository!)

Seriously, is there a publicly accessible source for those talking points?  I ask because the same phrases turn up across the spectrum, from here at TN to newspapers across the country.  "Obama desperate" turns up thousands of news articles.  It simply isn't right to have media marching in lockstep with either political party.

Last night, I watched one of my favorite scenes from Full Metal Jacket for the umpteenth time.  In one breath, the Stars and Stripes editor tells his writers that people back home aren't supportive of the war.  In the next breath and without a trace of irony, he tells them to fabricate news about it.

May you live in interesting times.

There is and I have the secret code to access that central depository.   I can give it to you, but first you have to give me the secret hand shake.  8)

Register with Obama 2012

Got a special milestone or event coming up?

Instead of another gift card you'll forget to use, ask your friends and family for something that will go a little further: a donation to Obama for America. Register your next celebration—whether it's a birthday, bar or bat mitzvah, wedding, or anniversary—with the Obama campaign. It's a great way to show your support for a cause that's important to you on your big day.

Oh my, I can't make this stuff up. This is just beyond my comprehension. Next, they will be asking you to send money to President Obama instead of flowers to your Aunt's Funeral. I sense desperation in President Obama's campaign.

Snopes thought it interesting enough to investigate and verify:

I'm reaching back to remember. I think it was 212. They sent me a letter offering to drop interest in drafting me forever if I would make myself available for a year and I think it was that number. The previous year that deal would have made me a draftee. I don't remember how high they went during my year but I remember my wife was not happy with the decision. I took the gamble and then heaqrd that they were scaling down.  If iirc I believe it was 1972. My brother in law had been killed in Nam the previous year.

That number strongly suggested signing up. I still remember being a freshman in the dorms at OU as we all were listening on the radio to the numbers being drawn. You could hear groans and shreiks emanating from different areas as students realized their college experience was likely almost over.

I was allowed to keep my 2S until I graduated as long as I kept making satisfactory progress toward my degree, which I did.  After I graduated, I checked my options and had everything ready except signing on the dotted line until my actual draft notice arrived.

During the night of the lottery, my dorm roomie got #1.  He proceeded to get about 5 sheets to the wind.  Later that night he found he was a year too young and that his lottery number would be the next year.  I think he got a 300+ number.
