I think Glenlivet would do quite nicely.  ;D

I believe that is Scottish, not Irish.

You're probably right. I'm not a big scotch/whiskey/bourbon (I know they're different, but they are similar) drinker. The name still sounds nice, though. ;)

I believe bourbon is made from corn mash.  Scotch Whiskey is made from barley mash, similar to beer.  I don't drink much of either either.  I used to consume blended scotch whiskey but it gave me reflux.  I have tasted a few single malt scotch whiskeys, very good, but my consumption has been very limited.

A lot of Scotch makers use old used Bourbon barrels in their aging process.  I found that fascinating to say the least.

I've seen that on some TV shows too.   I wonder what the Scotch makers did before Bourbon?   I believe Scotch whiskey predates Bourbon in charred white oak barrels.

I'm sure it does.  That's partially why I found it fascinating.  Why start using old Bourbon barrels?  Maybe it smoothed out the flavor?

I'm sure the TV shows mentioned the reason.  I probably had a couple too many Marshall's when I watched it/them.

Well played.  I'm also finishing my last Fat Tire.  I guess next weekend will include a run to Caney now...sigh.

Or learn to brew your own.  I've made some pretty good clones of Fat Tire.  Get the kit from High Gravity.

I love the thread drift about the boy turning to whiskey.

Thanks for the well wishes.  He's a cool little kid.

He'll grow up respecting the rye.

Townie, please insure this doesn't happen :

(I think this is what took place with Guido, but Conan's was not from indoctrination but parental rejection....just guessing.) ;D
