Why is Romney lying about when he left Bain Capital?

He repeatedly says he left in 1999, but SEC filings still list him as the sole stockholder, Chairman and CEO up until 2002. Now it comes out that he took a six figure salary, signed papers as Chairman of the company, and attended at least two Bain affiliated companies during that time.

Why the lie? What happened between 1999 and 2002 at Bain that he wants to avoid?

It seems such a small detail, but either he committed a felony by falsifying SEC documents or wants to avoid some responsibilty for actions that Bain took.

What happened?

This appears to be your equivalent of the "Birther" movement, the college transcript movement.....

Edit:
I believe you said a few years ago that you are  part of the Democratic Party Big Wheels (I don't remember your actual title) so I understand that you can never vote other than Democratic Party and that it is your duty to trash any Republican possible.  You just need to understand the lack of enthusiasm for your positions isn't really personal.  It's politics.  I expect you do understand.

Except that the birther movement was bat smile crazy.  This has traction because there is a paper trail here and the MSM has now picked up on it.  Well, except for Fox.   ;D

Yep, because it's not relevant.  I don't care about college transcripts from our CIC.  Never called for them for any elections past did I?

However, if you want to run the company on a platform of 'I'm a business leader and I will run it better', then turn around and falsify SEC filings, that has a little more punch to it.

At the worse he's a criminal.  At best, he's not competent to keep records properly.

The whole citizenship thing could have been put to rest by the fact that Obama's mother was a US citizen.  Why didn't the Obama campaign just make that the issue and make the place of birth a mute point?

Citizenship

If you meet certain requirements, you may become a U.S. citizen either at birth or after birth.
To become a citizen at birth, you must:
Have been born in the United States or certain territories or outlying possessions of the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction of the United States; OR
had a parent or parents who were citizens at the time of your birth (if you were born abroad) and meet other requirements

So now you're blaming it on Obama for not putting in to rest.  Wow.  He DID issue his HAWAIIAN birth certificate.

The extreme right, if Obama would claim that the sky was blue, would ask for proof.

Why didn't they ask McCain about his citizenship status since he was born in the Panama Canal Zone?  I made that point during the last election cycle.

Kind of like some demanding that Mitt put some issues to rest.  It would be/have been so easy to do.

QuoteHe DID issue his HAWAIIAN birth certificate.

As I remember it was not easy to pry from him.

And rightly so.  This is politics. The left expects the same of the right.  (Happy?  Did I give you the smart a$$ answer you were looking for?)

Probably because both his parents were US citizens and his dad was on assignment in the Military.  The general population is more aware of that situation.  (This last line is not being sarcastic.)

Other people did/do care about his college activities for various reasons that could be relevant.  The fact that you don't care about them is irrelevant.

This thread isn't about Obama and throwing in old stuff is tossing the stinky "Red" herring.

Red, one of his own partners wrote a book called, "Unintended Consequences". I saw him interviewed. He knows the importance of explaining Romney's inconsistency on dates. Not because it was fraud or a lie. It is important because after 1999 there were two companies that were outsourced and one that was shut down. This was not a departure from Bain's previous activities actually, but for some reason Romney chose to stick with the mantra that he wasn't involved after 1999. That fuels speculation that there is more to it than these few companies because its obviously not true.

He was CEO, President and Chairman of the board of Bain well after 1999 though he alleges he was not actively leading its operation. Who was? And more importantly, if the company had decided to invest all its partners' monies into Hoola Hoops, would he still be "inactive"?? No. He was both actively operating Bain after 1999 and actively negotiating with the other partners for his exit compensation. He wasn't leaving till that was finalized.

The SEC filing was either in error or was taken lightly or he outright lied. Typical businessman stuff but you should have this stuff lined out when you've been running for president for a decade don't you think?

You must have me confused with another poster. I have no title in the democratic party. I have often voted for republicans and have written many republicans small donation checks.

I have never voted for a republican for President, that is correct.

I care about those things and wish Obama would release his college transcripts. I wish Romney would release this year's taxes and I wished Bush would not have sealed his record in the National Guard. It seems like every politician has something about their youth that they want to hide.
