Lots of area operators have been seen viewing the space with the Penguin.

Some talk of splitting the space up further and putting a door in the alley.  That would give you the ability to have three tenants assuming you could get the restrooms (amount not condition) to code.

The diner space is awfully small and the way the bathrooms are currently set up its hard to get the back room rented to anything else.

HSG is in expansion mode.  Look for a Louie's at 71st & Yale.

Diamond Jacks w/b a good location for a Louies....

And the Penguin would be hard pressed to subdivide the BDD .... it's a spaghetti bowl of utilities....

Didn't Larry Zankel die awhile back or did I imagine that?  A friend of mine was fond of calling that place "the salt mine"

Yes, cancer sux.

When the building was built at 71st it was Pearl's a Hal Smith enterprise. I bet he still owns the building. It will be a big success there. He also owns Charleston's and Mahogany's next door....

Tulsa eateries are mostly salt mines and lard .... but hey, they cater to the demands of fat and stupid. And you whine about second hand smoke. :-*

I can control what I eat.  Walking through clouds of smoke, not so much.

I agree.  I don't like salty beer so I'm probably OK in that regard.

(Actually, home food around here has been "no salt added" for so long that "normal salty" makes me thirsty for hours.)

There isn't really a sports bar in downtown. I could get behind that, if it isn't too generic. Sometimes it's fun to go to a bar and watch the game with your buddies and complete strangers. A soccer themed pub would be lots of fun. It would go great with a new soccer stadium on the east end...

Fassler isn't a "sports bar" but it sure as hell turned into one during the Thunder's playoff run.  Watching those games there might be some of my favorite sports moments and I've seen a lot of great sports in person.

Question, do the people behind the marketing of the Blue Dome have to change their line that the Blue Dome is all local owned if Louie's moves in to the 'hood?

I would patron a true sports bar downtown.  There are plenty of places that have TV's that will serve you beer while you watch sports, but not a true sports bar as in having the ability to watch 4 or 5 different games at a time ala Buffalo Wild Wings.  Yes, you can watch sports at your home, but the atmosphere is to watch with other people and enjoy a night out.  I used to frequent Humperdinks when I lived in Dallas and it was a good sports bar atmosphere.  They were also a brew pub though which I know has complications in Tulsa.  That type of atmosphere would be nice though.  There really isn't a place like that in midtown.  The BWW at 41st and Sheridan is about as close as you can get.  White Owl does not count because the crowd there really isn't sports oriented even though the place is marketed, in part, as a sports bar.

Apparently you and I have been there at different times.

Diamond Jacks isn't a good location for anything other than medical offices or some such.

Agree.  Fassler's Thunder watch parties worked because there was only one sporting event that mattered, but it also showed there is demand for a downtown sports bar.  Leon's in Brookside is probably mid-town's only real sports bar.  White Owl has too few TVs/channels and bad viewing angles to be a really good sports bar.

I was recently in Wichita for business and stayed in the Old Town part of downtown.  There was a sports bar, Heroes, that probably had at least 30 TVs and was showing 4 or 5 baseball games, several soccer matches, a golf tournament, and several other sporting events at the same time.  That's the kind of sports bar we need in downtown.

Apparently today is Sager's birthday.
