The new ACORN?

With ACORN out of the picture this election, we assumed things like this wouldn't happen.

Meet the new ACORN:

The Voter Participation Center
Run by Page S. Gardner and funded through the Tides Center by Democratic Party members including Teresa Heinz Kerry. Our buddy John Podesta, former President Bill Clinton's chief of staff is on the Voter Participation Center's board. The CAP is also receives significant funding from George Soros.  Sounds like the old ACORN crew is back together.

So, what's up at the CAP?

Well they are sending out voter registration forms like this one, some to the dead, children, even pets.  The form is identical to the state supplied form with some important differences.

Here's the fun part. . .the address says that the form goes to the Virginia State Board of Elections, but that's not where the zip+4 sends it.  According to the postal inspector:

The Business Reply Mail (BRM) piece, Permit # 78103, containing the zip code 23286 is a unique zip code for BRM in the city of Richmond. The plus 4 number (0508) identifies the station in the city that the mail goes to.

BRM Permit # 78103 is issued out of Denver, CO and is issued to the Voters Participation Center. VPC has many sub accounts who use this number in different states, such as Virginia, and it turns out that this same campaign is being sent out in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, New Jersey, Nevada, New Mexico,  Ohio,  Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

This is the office they go to in Virginia:

The Tampa Bay Times is reporting that these cards went out to some 420,000 residents.

While it is not illegal to divert mail using Zip+4, it is purposefully misleading.  Combine this with the collection of personal voter data, party affiliation and SS#, and you have quite a little enterprise going on.

If the purpose was to register voters, why wouldn't they just send the forms to the appropriate election boards rather than diverting them?  Why go to the expense of renting PO boxes across the country to gather voter registrations when you can just send them directly to the boards?  They are spending a significant amount of money NOT to send them directly.  Happy days are here again!

May you live in interesting times.

Apparently, voter registration forms are like sperm: every one is sacred.

Well good.  I expect we won't hear any moaning or crying about voter fraud on the Republican side then.

We have established a precedent.  ;)

Well, you would have if there were any proof or even real insinuation of fraud that made sense to those of us not presently foaming at the mouth with ODS. Also, I'm a little curious how you would think that it's some kind of fraud on the part of Democrats when these things are being sent to lower income people who aren't registered and apparently have the wrong ZIP code on the return form. Not that I think there's any fraud on anybody's part given the evidence presented. You can come back later if you have something more than base insinuation.

That's obvious to the most casual observer.  All Republicans and potential Republicans are filthy rich.  They would also be smart enough to recognize the bogus Zip Code. By sending registration materials to lower income people, the results are guaranteed to be new Democrats.

Is that the condescending stereotype answer you are looking for?  Glad to stretch the truth a bit to help you out.   ;D

(You can buy me a Marshall's next time we meet at a TNF lunch.  :D)

I'm just saying that the concept as presented makes no sense. If someone has an explanation that does make sense, that would be great.
