I haven't complained about the lack of tax shelters.  If you can do it, then do so.  But when you run for public office you can't go around claiming 'that's private' when other candidates have released their financials.  Our current CiC has released all the way back to 2000.  Why can't Mitt?

I'm sure he could if he wanted to.  What would he really gain by doing so?  The only result I see would be having to defend every line entry for 10 years.  It would be an effective distraction from the real issues and a real plus for the Obama campaign to have Mitt so occupied.

QuoteHell, everyone on the kooky right was demanding to see Obama's long form birth certificate.  Why is it such a travesty that the American people should ask of the financial records of the candidate who is asking us to trust him to fix the economy?

Being a natural born citizen of the USA is a constitutional requirement to be President of the USA.  I am on the right but not kooky right.  I believed Obama is a natural citizen of the USA.  Being constitutionally qualified to be President does not guarantee that other qualifications will also be met as we have found out since early 2009.

Bearing your financial history to the public is not a constitutional requirement to be President.  I believe someone else posted that a candidate does have to provide more information, which can remain confidential, to one of the election processes.  If you think you need to see all of Mitt's history, then don't vote for him.

QuoteOh, I'm divorced, so I'm filing single and 2 (technically head of household).  And I don't make nowhere near $250,000 a year.  I'm guessing most who post on here don't.

I actually remember you saying that you are divorced but didn't know if taking care of your mother qualified you for other deductions.

My point about the $250,000 is that the impression is given that $250,000 is the magic number for everyone but in reality, it is not.

The only deduction it really qualifies me for is filing head of household.  That's not a huge deduction.  Unless there are some deductions I should be taking that I'm not.  But I don't really worry about it, as I live comfortable enough for me and Mother.

It also moves your marginal rate brackets but you wouldn't see that unless you looked it up.
