I took some photos at the Mud Run this afternoon.  I was char-broiled by the sun while they got to play in nice, cooling mud.  The set is on Google+ at https://picasaweb.google.com/114874700548780474647/TulsaMudRun2012

Here's one of them:

The temperature wasn't too bad at about 2500 ft.  The price of avgas kind of makes that expensive air conditioning though.

A friend was thinking about a motorcycle ride down to Talimena, but postponed it for a while.  He said that riding in this heat -- even at motorcycle speeds -- is as different as riding in an oven as opposed to a convection oven.

I went through 2 waterbottles and a can of lemonade in an hour and a half yesterday, and I was still dehydrated.  It doesn't help that the blood pressure meds make me dizzy when that happens.

But....the race pace was slow enough that I'm contemplating participating next year.  The water slides are bottle necks that slow the group.  I noticed, too, that a lot of people walked the entire course.  I could do that.

That is one of my favorite runs. Be sure to tape up your shoes so your feet don't take on mud and weigh 30 LBS each.

The motorcycles have been parked since late May or early June.  I can't stand the heat coming off the motorcycle and pavement when it's this hot, yet we still manage to get out and ride for three hours on the human-powered ones.  Go figure.

When I was riding a lot, I told SWMBO one Saturday that it was too hot to cut the grass, and I went out for a ride instead.  She was not amused.

Yes, she is.  She's a far better spouse than I deserve.
