Bike Racks in Downtown

I recently acquired a bike to more easily traverse downtown. I know there are other bicyclists on this forum. Is there a website anywhere that I can find a map of available bike racks? Are there any plans to add more?

Sad to say... no.  At one point Ewing wanted to add a bike rack and it was deemed to be a sidewalk hazard (if memory serves).  Railings  and lampposts my friend.  I take my bike to my office.

I wish downtown had a fitness club with bike lockers... ride, lock it up, change using a weekly locker to get my auit, and hwad to work with my bike safely locked up.   Lee's, YMCA... listening?

I think there are plans in the works to add a bunch more racks around downtown.

The nicest rack downtown is probably that one in a locked cage inside the parking garage along First between Cincinnati and Detroit. Not sure what kind of credentials you have to have to use that one.

The new Guthrie Green has ample bike parking, possibly one of the only places downtown.

Few have made the connection between public health and activities you can integrate into your routine, like biking or walking. So we complain about the price of gas on the drive to the gym.

Adam tried to do this at Lee's but the city gave him crap over the public shower aspect.  That said, I agree a lock and a tall post seems to be as good as it gets.  I suspect if someone were a good customer of Lee's they would keep an eye on your bike during the day and well, they might have a place where you can wash up, but I didn't say that.

There are a couple of racks in the parking garage underneath the BOK tower and a service elevator that lets out right next to the bathroom on my floor, so I'm covered for work. I was thinking more for dinner, drinks, concerts, eventual grocery store, etc. I'll just have to find some good posts or go back to walking.

Perhaps someone will create an attended bicycle parking garage.  It should be worth a few bucks to be reasonably sure your bicycle will be there when you return for it.

Yes, I am the one too cheap to pay for parking but I always get overruled and am told to get over it and pay the parking fee.

If there was a bike parking garage in Blue Dome, I would happily pay a few bucks to know my bike is safe.

I saw a clip on TV about how easy they can be to steal, even when locked to a pole or tree.  Chop down the tree or pole and the bike is gone.  With battery powered tools it's not far fetched.  I know some of you guys ride expensive bikes.

Maybe in Tulsa.  I wish I could remember on which TV show I saw the spot on bicycle stealing.  It definitely was not just a crime of opportunity.  There were saws and bolt cutters on the video.

I rarely park my bike where it's out of view once it's locked to a pole.

My bike isn't that expensive. They'll destroy more of the value cutting it off my locks than they'd get out of it. But yes, there are plenty of videos of thieves making off with bikes using bolt cutters or hacksaws or bottle jacks and occasionally even power tools. Double lock it with a good cable lock and a good (appropriately sized) U lock and it'll be a lot less likely they make off with it since it requires different kinds of tools to break each. It is a crime of opportunity, in the sense that they take whatever is easy to get.

I also prefer not to pay for parking, BTW. I will if I have to, but I'd rather just park on the street and walk a few blocks. I don't think that American Parking really deserves any of my money.

I'm more worried about it being accidentally damaged by others than theft. My jalopy of a bike had its fork busted when I parked it at McNellies rack before. The rack is too close to the sidewalk, so the bikes hang out over the curb into a no-parking zone where motorcycles park.
