Romney doesn't understand why you can't open windows...

...in a jet.

Wow.  I understand not being technical, but I asked my mother, who is pushing 70 and not real technical minded if she knew why there were no windows on them.  She at least understood that.

I posted this in a different forum last night and considered doing it here.  I thought maybe I better let it simmer a while before I did.  Yes, he actually did say this in an interview.

I didn't have any idea that Ann was in any danger, and I too am glad she is safe and sound.

I'm just the messenger here.  I'm sure that won't dissuade some of you from the attacks though.

Quote"I appreciate the fact that she is on the ground, safe and sound. And I don't think she knows just how worried some of us were," Romney said. "When you have a fire in an aircraft, there's no place to go, exactly, there's no — and you can't find any oxygen from outside the aircraft to get in the aircraft, because the windows don't open. I don't know why they don't do that. It's a real problem. So it's very dangerous. And she was choking and rubbing her eyes. Fortunately, there was enough oxygen for the pilot and copilot to make a safe landing in Denver. But she's safe and sound."

Probably wanted to open them to stick his head out and see how his dog is doing.

I read some commentary on this incident I thought was at least thought-provoking. Most of us would be thrown off by our spouse being involved in an in flight incident. However, most of us are not interviewing to be the leader of the free world.

Everyone knows gravity keeps oxygen in the lower 47% of the atmosphere.  If you opened a window from the top 1% the oxygen would escape and just end up being spread out down below.  Keep em closed!

I think Romney has already come out against redistribution of oxygen.  Right?

I think I can explain this.

Our atmosphere is composed of roughly 80% nitrogen and 20% oxygen, with a few other trace gases.  As you know, oxygen has a higher atomic number than nitrogen, meaning that it's denser and therefore displaces the less dense nitrogen close to the earth's surface.  This means that tall people are receiving less oxygen than shorter people, causing them to have a mild oxygen debt that may have deleterious effects on brain function.

Mitt Romney is a tall guy.

May you live in interesting times.

So please explain why all the short guys have not suffocated in all the CFCs in the atmosphere.  Romney might be the only one getting any oxygen.   :D

Because farts contain a small amount of oxygen.

All the CFC's in the history of the world would only make a layer about 1 mm thick on the ground...and that would flow to the ocean, which might raise it to 1.3 mm.  But then, CFC's aren't heavy enough to avoid mixing, so they are thinly diluted throughout....
