Similarly, nobody can stop you from only allowing yourself to see about two thirds of the political spectrum.

2/3 is a pretty strong majority.  It's filibuster-proof.

Edit:
I believe it's enough to pass a Constitutional Amendment.

Yeah, but it's interesting how it's skewed to the right. ;)

The difference, of course, being that only the extreme right has representation in one of the two major parties. Those on the far left have to content themselves with Bernie Sanders and at times a comedian.

You're right, Harry Reid is a down the middle Democrat.  ::)

He is, but that's because the Democratic Party is not at all left wing. At best it's solidly at center. There are more blue dogs than unabashed liberals. I suggest you look at Reid's actual voting record. This is a guy who voted yes on a Constitutional amendment to ban flag burning, voted for more wiretapping, voted for the godawful bankruptcy reform, voted to make the Cuba embargo more strict, votes consistently in favor of gun rights, voted against means testing Medicare Part D, voted against allowing Medicare to negotiate drug discounts, votes very consistently for expanding the security state, and more. If you think he's a middle of the road Democrat, it's hard to argue that the Democrats as a party are anything but middle of the road.

While you are at it, don't forget that Harry was the prime mover in passing a change such that you can legally take a firearm into national parks, etc.

I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently.  I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they are not alone.

And this right here, is why the Republicans are so far right.  When you think Harry Reid is left-wing, then you are courting the Teatardistanians...
