Would this de-citizizing be retroactive?  If so, does that mean that any Texas Citizen has to pay back any benefit they have received from being a US citizen?

Retroactive would be tough.  It would also have to include any taxes paid to the Feds if benefits would have to be returned.  Paperwork would not be worth it.

Texass was always a loser state. But that will change soon as it goes blue with immigrants!

From bad to worse.

Yeah idiot. Because Texass would simply keep the current immigration policy if it were possible to split off.  I used to live in Texas, that's how they think. Much like the people in the Yucatan don't seem to like being linked to Mexico. BTW, if you get the chance, visit Merida and compare it to any large Mexican city. There is a difference.

Put down the medz, Gwee.

No State is seceding. More ugly rumors.

BTW, have you noticed how all the Occupiers are volunteering to help the Sandy victims?
The Occupy Sandy folks are feeding FEMA workers! Occupy Boston was driving down car loads of diapers, food, & clothing.

What are your friends in the Tea Potty up to these days?

They have jobs. Or, they wrote big checks to help family members who need it. How many checks have you written?

CMIIW, if a state seceds from the US, would not the following things be void or useless as they would no longer be a part of the US?: Passports, social security card, banking, (have to establish own currency and it's basis and get everywhere else to agree) commerce with businesses in other states, FAA guidelines, (airports have no new agreements) health care guidelines (not refering to Obama Care), no agreements with any utilities, import and export rules. Just asking.......

Feel free to leave.

I think it is childish and petulant that people want to secede just because they lost another election, but if they feel strongly about it, leave. The rest of us will stay and keep America the greatest country in the world.

Just make sure and take Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh with you.
Power is nothing till you use it.

As far as I'm concerned they can also take Maher. I'm sick of divisiveness on both sides (and he is not funny)

They don't have jobs...they are %47er's .... you just don't know any. You can find them in the fast food joints where you like to hang around.
At least you recognize that they are blood suckers.

Where are the petitions that say I love my country? No need as %51 voted for BamBam. These are the populace who do love America.

These people have no idea what secession actually means to them.  It's just less than intelligent people jumping on the bandwagon because it's shiny and mind boggling to them.

He won't go unless they legalize marijuana. Seems unlikely. ;)

Texas' real problem in this secessionist fantasy will be Mexico. Texas has oil and used to be part of Mexico. Seems like there's a fairly decent chance the Mexicans might want to retake what was once theirs. How long would the Texas Republic last?

After the USA has to fight another war with Mexico over Texas, Oklahoma can split it up with Louisiana and New Mexico.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry Says He Doesn't Support Secession

QuoteWe told you yesterday about a petition on the White House website signed by more than 70,000 people that seeks the secession of Texas from the union.

Well, the governor of the great state doesn't agree with those people.

The Dallas Morning News reports that Gov. Rick Perry's press secretary Catherine Frazier sent out a statement about the controversy. She said:

"Gov. Perry believes in the greatness of our Union and nothing should be done to change it. But he also shares the frustrations many Americans have with our federal government. Now more than ever our country needs strong leadership from states like Texas, that are making tough decisions to live within their means, keep taxes low and provide opportunities to job creators so their citizens can provide for their families and prosper. We cannot allow Washington's tax and spend, one-size-fits-all mindset to jeopardize our children's future, undermine our personal liberties and drive our nation down a dangerous path to greater dependence of government."

The petition to allow Texas to "peacefully" part ways from the United States was submitted through the White House's We the People function. It allows citizens to submit any question or petition and promises an official response after they get a certain number of signatures. In this case, the threshold was 25,000, which was easily met.
