Anyone see that thread about the  OKC video and how OKC is moving ahead and  leaving Tulsa in the dust? Now Tulsa has two clowns running for mayor is it any wonder OKC is clobbering Tulsa? The best person for mayor would be "None Of The Above".. Let's hope someone new can run for for mayor and win... If any one of those two clowns win, Tulsa may as well kick in the towel. It's over for Tulsa.

Well throw your hat in and fix this town.  Let's hear your plans if you were mayor.

Don't you have to be a resident?

You're focusing too much on one leader. "A" mayor didn't make OKC's growth. Several mayors and leaders throughout their community were active in its re-formatting OKC over a decade or more. It was controversial but they had a core of dynamic creatives, thinkers and doers that overcame the cynicism we seem to have.

The things that Tulsan's argued so much about, City Hall and the Arena are both successes by most criteria. And Kathy Taylor and LaFortune, two very controversial mayors from two different parties were partly responsible. Bartlett hasn't been a failure, he simply has been wallpaper. All of them bragged about being the champions of river development but without widespread community and state support, that isn't ever going to happen.

So Sauer, I too am interested in just who you think is capable of being a catalyst for development in Tulsa. Someone from ORU maybe?

Your grasp on reality is slipping.  Mayor Taylor is largely responsible for the rapid make-over on the Brady District downtown.  The Brady District is far and away a much better development than Bricktown in OKC.

Bricktown is not so bad when they drain the river and the smell goes away.  It would be fantastic if they could keep the businesses from turning over so fast, either that or mandate LED signage above all of the storefronts to make for easy transition from one failed venture to another.
When attacked by a mob of clowns, always go for the juggler.

Moving city hall and hundreds of hungry employees to the edge of the Blue Dome probably helped the restaurants a little as well...

That and the urban residential growth.  10-15 years ago, at 8pm on a Wednesday all you could find was a few winos and a handful business people getting ready to drive home from the bars to South Tulsa drunk.  Now you have some community there, and with that comes pride, and improvement.

You also have young energetic developers, dedicated to continuing the trend, rather than just capitalizing on low overhead parking.

The ball park helped spur more Brady growth (in fairness, Don Himelfarb had more to do with bringing the Drillers downtown than Mayor Taylor, but she was mayor and clearly pushed the effort), but the Brady District's current success is the culmination of a lot of effort by a lot of people that began before Kathy Taylor became mayor.  She did an ok job in several respects, but dropped out of the race when it became obvious that tough choices were going to have to be made in the face of declining revenues (after announcing her re-election bid).  Much of politics is about timing and she chose to quit rather than lead when Tulsa needed a real leader.  In my book, that forever mars any legacy as mayor she may have.

Sour, who do you think should lead us out of our vision?
Between Bart & KittyTulsa I'll have to say none of the above. It won't matter who wins. It'll be bad either way. I hope a 3rd person enters the race.

Maybe someone from ORU will be good. Bart's trash system change over mess was for no reason the old trash system was fine but they had to fix it, the road const is very bad, Kitty Tulsa left the economy in shambles Bart got a bag of snakes when she left office. I don't like either one. Can we just leave the office of mayor empty? :-\

Uh, there's been a "third person" in the race for months. If you lived here you would know Bill Christiansen announced his candidacy months back.
