A proposed bill in the Arizona legislature would require that high school student take an oath to defend the constitution before they graduate. Students would be required to say:
Quote
I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose or evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge these duties; so help me God.

How exactly does one "take this obligation freely" when it's required. Morons.

Well, if the state paid for that education...
On the other hand, if an oath to uphold the constitution gets to be a burden, they can always have a public sector union show them how they dodge it.

I saw this was also covered in another thread.

What specifically do you have a problem with?

Or, are you still fighting against change? Do you think this is about our culture?

Maybe he is afraid the decorticator will threaten his paper mill interests.

Maybe, but I think it's Guido's nerdy politics....

Interesting how you can interpret a small step toward sanity as being Oklahoma trying to keep up the crazy.  I can compromise - I want some of what you are drinking - it's gotta be some good sh$t!!

I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently.  I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they are not alone.

I like economics, I find it interesting.  I have read Adam Smith and Marx.  I follow an economics blog. I subsribe to the economist and read the Journal.  I'm a partner in an investment firm.  I raelly enjoy that stuff.

And I had trouble readnig Atlas Shrugged.  It is slow developing and tedious.  Interesting, but not really a great read.

That said, I think studying more basic economics in school is a great idea.  Before we jump into Atlas Shrugged lets start with credit card debt, 12% car loans, payday loans, and subprime mortgage lenders. . .  hell, I've worked with tenants to educate them on bank accounts.  We can start much mroe basic than Atlas Shurgged.  I mean, who is John Galt anyway?
