Too bad that fourth branch got elected...

Here's the video clip.  Typically embarrassing.

We can only blame ourselves...but mostly we can blame the folks that paid for his campaign and the people who voted for him.

I'll take a little blame because I used his company a few times.

I mostly blame others.

The fourth branch is "them".  You know "those guys".  "The silent hand".

I'm curious exactly how Mullin was recruited to run.  How does a bumpkin plumber end up in the USHOR?

His commercials, recognition, money and willingness to spew the sound bites.

Have you seen the list of guys we've sent in the last ten years?  Not exactly stellar...

I think you guys are being too critical of both Mullin and Bridenstein. Sure, they're both basically puppets who speak whatever their handlers want them to say, but it's likely they have far better moral compasses than Nevada Assemblyman Jim Wheeler, who recently said that if his constituents wanted it, he'd vote to re-instate slavery.

He didn't say, "That's unconscionable and I'd never do it." He didn't say,"It's degrading to even consider such a thing." No, he said he'd vote for it if his 'constituents' - presumably including huge industrial and agricultural interests - were in favor of enslaving other humans. Imagine GM, Tyson Foods, or nearly any highway construction company based on slave labor.

So while Mullin and Bridenstine are undeniably d-heads, they're undeniably our d-heads and they're still better than this guy:

May you live in interesting times.

Wow!  What an idiot!

I can't believe such an moron could remain in office.

Could you imagine what would happen to us as a nation if we were to allow politicians to campaign on the basis of delivering the product or labor from one group to another group in exchange for their vote?

Comparing taxes to slavery is pretty bad form Gasp, even for you. Grow up.

You mean like the system we have now where a CEO gets to ride on the back of the people actually doing the work and enjoy the perks and massive tax breaks associated therein.... well, we see it - the massive redistribution of wealth that has occurred in the last 30+ years is crippling our ability to perform as an economy.   Kind of like the "vapor lock" that happens in the game Monopoly when one player ends up with all the money - in this case, 1% compared to the other 99%.

You ever play Monopoly when you were a kid?  It's not a game, it's an economics lesson for those who can learn.

Hum?

Don't think I said anything about taxes.  How did you jump to that conclusion?

I simply stated that it is wrong to enslave people through subjugation.

Perhaps we are talking about different things?

It seems you too have some difficulty reading my post.  But what the heck, I'll play.  :D
The evil CEOs you speak of.  Do they have the power to enslave?  Please help me to understand.

I have worked for some A-holes in my time, but never for long. There was no force under the law that they could exert upon me to prevent me from seeking fortune elsewhere. On the contrary, the mass-majority of people I have done work for are as concerned about the happiness, advancement, progress and growth of their individual workers as they are about themselves.  It is no secret that a successful business is built through the combined efforts of a successful workforce, and companies that don't subscribe to that philosophy have a very difficult time competing with those that do (unless of course they have been granted some monopoly through collusion or regulation).

This subject seems to be a common theme for you.  Perhaps you should start a thread on it, so that you don't have to drift other threads towards it. I am sorry that you feel those you work for have/are somehow wronging you, and have trapped you in some bubble of servitude. I can see how that perception of reality would suck!

So, back to MY post about a politician advocating slavery. . .can you imagine such a thing?

Nope, I have been very lucky and have worked for some great companies with good leadership, and for the VAST majority, very good people to work with.  Really have only been about 3 of the thousands I have encountered who were really of no redeeming social value.  I have complimented many from time to time here, some of whom I have worked for.

And then there is John Pickle Company....  even 1 is too many for that kind of carp, and yet, somehow, while he does appear to be out of business right now, he still is also out of jail.  For slavery.  And sadly, there are still many out there.  And while virtually ALL of us here have those options to seek employment elsewhere there literally are many who don't have that as a realistic choice.  Good for you, that you have never been in that situation!!  Truly, I am glad for you.
