I was refueling my cng vehicle at Apache yesterday when I saw a state vehicle refueling (corporation commission, petroleum tank inspection dept) with a political bumper sticker on the front of the truck that read something like this:

"Vote for him once...shame on him. Vote for him twice..shame on you!"

I don't know whether the driver meant BushII or Obama(won), but either way it was an indulgent, stupid, illegal thing to do. The entire state population's tax dollars helped pay for that truck, his job and that fuel. Dems, Repubs, Libs, Conservatives, Tpartiers and Libertarians.

So, I called Bob Anthony, one of the corporation commissioners, to inquire about the policy. To my surprise, Mr. Anthony himself answered the phone! I waited to see if it was a recording then proceeded to tell my story. He interrupted me to exclaim that it was indeed not their policy and in fact illegal. I gave him the details of the vehicle, time, location so he wouldn't think I was a crank and he promised to call the dept. immediately and address it.

We then talked about his own personal CNG vehicle that he sometimes fills at that very station. He seems to know where Tulsa is. He was engaging, professional, literate, well spoken, and I have every confidence that he will indeed follow up with my concern. I looked into his history and am impressed. This is the type of conservative Republican Oklahoma deserves as Governor. That is, if we can't elect a good Democrat with the same high integrity and intelligence.

Outside of local politics the Democratic Party is dead in Oklahoma. It doesn't even really exist. The most you can hope for is a fiscally minded Republican that's more concerned about governing than pandering. The current group of sheep in Oklahoma City are not that kind of Republican.

Tom Cole for governor?

But we elected a moderate Democrat governor before this Fallin character.

I suspect those who might have registered Democrat have migrated to the old Republican party just to get elected. Now they can't even retain their moderate views and get elected under any party.

I know it's hard to believe, but that (R) after someone's name doesn't always mean batchit crazy like it does in Oklahoma:

If there's anybody who can still hear the words "zero tolerance" and not cringe in expectation of some draconian bureaucratic idiocy, he or she hasn't been paying attention. The phrase has become our most infallible indicator of ill-conceived and ridiculously punitive rules, regulations and laws.

Now, with teenagers in their districts facing absurd felony charges for zero-tolerance "offenses," two Republican lawmakers want to put common sense back into the equation.

This is not fiscal or common sense conservatism. Fallin appoints Chris Benge to a position she says will help her achieve conservative legislation (like that's been a problem!) then jumps the position's pay from 90K to $140K to do the job! A 60% increase in pay to serve as secy of state and advisor?

Pays pretty handsomely to be a useful asskisser, regardless of party affiliation.  Oklahoma just seems to have quite a few of them at the municipal and state level.

I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently.  I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they are not alone.

FIFY!

And much further back - clear to Eisenhower in the 50's to find a truly fiscally responsible Republican!  And it was much further back to find the previous one.  (Hint: Nixon wasn't even close to being responsible at much of anything, let alone fiscal!)
