I think a couple of powerful Washington type politicos came to visit and lend support to Bartlett during the campaign.

Covert surveillance is part of business. You watch your competitors closely, you shop their stores, buy their products and occasionally tail them. Even as an ad rep for the newspaper I watched and listened. This is no big deal for Taylor or Bartlett. It is a big deal to those who thought this was a rather slow moving, non partisan, po-dunk election where such practices might not be necessary.

She is a competitor and so is he. Wouldn't doubt he is, or wished he had been, doing the same thing.
onward...through the fog

Bill Christiansen just endorsed Kathy Taylor.

I heard the press conference.  I just don't see his endorsement delivering voters in droves to her doorstep.

Whoever she had following him must have gotten something good.   :D

I don't know. It is difficult to know how much weight endorsements from losing candidates carry. But Christiansen was pretty upset with Dewey. His comments were very pointed and detailed. He brought up Dewey's much larger budgets and said he was no fiscal conservative. He brought up Dewey's refusal to speak to the council about the budget shortfalls and said he was hiding till after the election. Christiansen finished by saying that no elected official who ever worked with Dewey has endorsed him. No councilor from the early days and no councilor from the last two groups of councilors including the current group had endorsed him. He said that Dewey wasn't likeable or trusted.

That had to leave a mark.

I know this is about four years late but...

I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently.  I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they are not alone.

I have seen plenty of people focused solely on a need to vote for a conservative. Bill was the conservative candidate and he is leading a charge that Dewey isn't the conservative choice, he'll bring a few with him.

A few hundred here and a few hundred there, does a Mayor make.

OTOH, selling out is selling out.  Some of his followers... wont.

Today I learned that Kathy Taylor is an unabashed abortionist and that somehow apparently matters in a mayoral race.  ::)

As a newcomer, I just look to the streets, growth, news.  Downtown is doing better it seems to me.  I am lacking knowledge of why but it seems to lean towards Kathy.  The streets you know suck.  Why can we not make people pick-up their trash?  I can't get over it.  There are laws.  Why are they not enforced under the current mayor?

Hey, anyone up for a trip to Demings, Arizona.  I hear WalMart has a special on finger potatoes.
I ran from OK about 50-yrs. ago & in 2010 I saw downtown's potential.

Tulsa's in a Phoenix rise, reason enough to stick around.

Besides... you can't fully be an Okie except in Oklahoma.

I am not up for a trip but where is Demings, AZ?  When I type it into Google Maps, it only shows Deming, NM.

My prediction is Taylor winz! I also hope the props all go down the last thing we need is more street work, can hardly drive a mile without seeing some sort of road work- what frosts me is roads that really need work are not fixed- example: the ramp from I-44 westbound to highway 75 northbound, that ramp has a big bump and chuck hole there for at least a year, So they know how to tear up the intersection of Memorial & Admiral and rebuild it same way without even adding any extra lanes (there never was any street problem there) and then while that intersection is torn up they move on to Mingo & Admiral and tear that up, the side streets west of Sheriton have been torn up for well over 2 years... They re-do a street then tear it up to put in new water mains. >:(
