Posted in the sports thread that Oneok field has a soccer field outlined in it so I'm guessing they will be playing their games there.

Which is why I got an email from the Drillers today saying a big announcement was happening today at OneOk Field.

My guess, anyway.

QuoteA competing Tulsa ownership group is working to gain a North American Soccer League franchise, possibly for the 2015 season. That group is allied with another group in Oklahoma City that has already been granted a NASL franchise for 2015.

So were in the same mess now as OKC?  Isn't NASL a higher division league?  Can either city support two professional franchises?

What happens now to Ruf and his Tulsa Athletics and the old Driller Stadium?
Changing opinions one mistake at a time.

The Drillers are partnering with Prodigal LLC which is led by Bob Funk.  Prodigal is the owner of the USL franchise set for OKC.

Prodigal is also working on building a soccer specific stadium in OKC.

The only decent reasons I can think of for having the field that far out is to avoid the mound and/or reduce the amount of sodding they have to do but it just seems comically far from what should be the best seats

Change never happened because people were happy with the status quo.

Exactly.
ONEOK ballpark wasn't built to accommodate soccer... Frontier Field in Rochester (NY) was, however... pay close attention to the setup in the last 10 secs of this video...
