The Uber app came loaded on my new LG3 phone. I had no idea what it even was. Guess I will try to delete it. I will never use it anyway.
Changing opinions one mistake at a time.

21 year old driver, Uber/Lyft to be licensed with the city.  Gives the drivers commercial insurance through Uber/Lyft.  Which is great because many times people assume that they will be covered by their personal insurance when they really aren't.  Which means if you are injured in somebody else's car their insurance isn't going to cover your medical bills.

Also the licensing fee to Uber/Lyft at least makes it equal to a cab company fee.  Now they are legit with the city.  I don't see why they shouldn't have rules on them like the cab companies do.

I recently saw a cab in Tulsa when a friend was picked up for a trip to the airport.  The cab companies need the same rules as Uber/Lyft.

They are protecting drivers/riders and bringing uber close to what they do with the taxi companies.  Like background checks and insurance that the taxi's have to do.

Sounds like you're saying the riders and drivers approached the city and said "help, protect us."

Don't mind these regulations. They won't effect much.

PS - I'll never take a cab in this city again. Beyond sketchy. Uber for me or I'll ride a bike.

The last cab I saw here in Tulsa made me think, "No wonder we need Uber here."

The car looked like something a wholesaler would sell to a junk yard.  The driver was rude and dirty.

Sure is a good thing the taxi companies are being regulated by the city.

I according to my friend who drives Uber.  She said that they do everything required already as a standard business practice.  I don't think Uber will need to change what they are doing already.  But I will have to follow the same rules if I start my own app.

My impression is GT and the city are being proactive.  Cities all across the country are being reactive to these companies and stifling them.  I applaud GT for working with the company and their advocates around the city to craft a reasonable regulation.

To Delete or Not to Delete: That's the Uber Question
This is a new quandary faced by customers reliant on Uber's on-demand taxi app but unsettled about supporting a company whose attitudes toward privacy and women have been making headlines.

And why people wonder why anything that shows where I am at is turned off on my phone.
