New Bridge: Decorative light towers at 51st & Lewis

So glad the new bridge is open! Who chose the blue of the light towers? Why blue? Why the same blue use in emergency response vehicles lights? I wish they would have incorporated multiple colors so the towers could reflect weather forecasts. Opinions? Comments?

The weather coded lights would have been cool. When I was younger one of the buildings downtown would be lit with weather coded lighting. It was either the NBT building or the Philtower. Of course, now we have sooper dooper radar that shows embedded tornadoes on our tablets and most of the city couldn't see the skyline anyway so its just a fun kind of thing.

I haven't seen any emergency vehicles other than Ecto-1 that uses all blue lights, and those lights flash, not solid.

The blue lit area is blue when unlit too, so I'm not sure it was intentional blue lighting or just they intentionally lit a section that was blue.

What is now the 320 S Boston Building used lights to signal weather.  Also had a mooring station for the oft used Zeppelin.

I believe they did that right up to the energy crisis in the early '70's IIRC.  I could see it from our house.

I think the new towers on Lewis and Riverside look just fine!    Just glad the work is coming to an end finally.
