The United States unequivocally condemns the application of the death penalty for conduct such as homosexuality, blasphemy, adultery and apostasy. I just cited the article.    Apparently it condemned the death penalty "in all circumstances and calling for its abolition."   I can't say I read the actual UN resolution text, I have to leave something to the reporters.


If it was as you state, I would agree that we had no reason not to sign.   If instead, it was as the article stated, condemning the death penalty as a whole might have been seen as a little hypocritical.
