Tulsa - Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor used more than a million dollars of her own money to support her campaign earlier this year Now, she's asking for donations to help pay off the campaign debt.

Taylor outspent former Mayor Bill LaFortune 3-to-1 in April's mayoral race. Of the 1-point-97 million Taylor raised, 1-million, 150-thousand came from loans she made herself.

Letters were sent to LaFortune supporters last week, asking for donations to help pay off that debt. Jody Parker is Taylor's campaign manager. He says he sent those letters in an effort to bridge the gap between the parties.

Taylor was elected April fourth with 51 percent of the vote compared to 47 percent for LaFortune.

Taylor announced earlier this month that she will not take any of her 105-thousand dollar annual salary during her first year in office, saying she plans to reserve the money for other city priorities her office might not otherwise be able to address.
