This is unbelievable. According to KOTV, people are already waiting in line for the PS3 to come out on Friday. They are at Best Buy RIGHT NOW.  Some have been there since TUESDAY.

On Friday, Sony will release its much anticipated PlayStation 3, but some folks are already camping out for the console at the Best Buy store at 71st Street and US Highway 169 in Tulsa.

People across the US are camped out for the new PS3, mostly to make some extra cash. Austin Patton has been camped out at the Best Buy in east Tulsa since Tuesday night.

The store will sell its share of PS3's Friday, one per customer. Patton has hired two of his friends to stand in line with him. He plans to keep one, sell the other two on an online auction site, and use the money he makes for college.

"It's an experiment and a chance of a lifetime to do something adventurous, in a sense, I mean as adventurous as camping in front of Best Buy can get."

Managers at Best Buy say there are a total of 400,000 PS3s available for the entire country. There are two different kinds of units, each priced at $500 and $600. Managers won't reveal how many they'll be given.

The store opens Friday at 8 AM.

Wal-Marts on the other hand, will begin selling their PS3s tonight at midnight.

PS3's are going for 3 times retail on the secondary market.

Think about it, are you making $1500 at work today?

Last night, I thought Best Buy was starting to sell tents[:D].

It's the same way here in Lexington, KY. I went to stop by work (Best Buy) last night, and there were at least 20 people camped out. They were there since Tuesday night. They ran into an unfortunate incident, though. It appears that some people wanted to have some fun and so they got a paint-ball gun and nailed the campers from the street. Now a cop has to be present at all times.

Someone should go there and pass out bars of soap :D

All that for a $900 profit. Eh, I'd do it if I had the time and the money to initially buy the system.

Most stores have more people in line than they have units. I've checked with a walmart and a best buy and they had 12 and 23 respectively.

i'm glad its 31 outside.  I hope it gets ****ing colder.  Hell, I hope it comes a freak sleet storm.  No game machine is worth waiting in line for.

In other news today, eBay is limiting who can engage in PS3 commerce and rationing those who can.  Welcome to the red world of communism you eBay ****s!

Hey if someone was handing out $1500 cash I'd be there....

A friend of mine already has 3 guaranteed that he is going to sell. If I had the money and time to invest, I'd consider it. I get in on some deals, but none of the big ones. I bought an elmo TMX..

So you think it's worth standing out since Tuesday?  Yeah, it's nice making $1500 but it isn't one night's worth. By the time you add up every hour you are outside from Tuesday at 3pm let's say, you have just camped outside for several days.  I make more money than that if I had to put that much time of my life on a sidewalk or parking lot.

HAR! As a reformed gaming geek, currently in possession of three different consoles, i pity these fools... i've had a track record for getting d-day console releases via pre-order but i'll swear on a stack of bibles to the fact that there is no buyers remorse, cars, houses and weddings included, quite like the sting of a new $600 console...

Smart people did things like go to gamestop, wait 2 hours and get a preorder.
