Hello everyone!
I just moved to Oklahoma from Detroit, MI and I am just wondering if there are any good black hair salons in Oklahoma (In or around Tulsa)that you would recommend?  I would really appreciate it.

You might try looking in the "Tulsa Oklahoma Eagle" a local black newspaper.  There is also "The Ebony Tribune".  Unfortunately it does not seem as though either have a web presence.  I am actually amazed at how little there is online for the black community here. The only subject that comes up is the Race Riots.  http://www.northtulsamagazine.com/page0013.htm

Otherwise its probably just going to be word of mouth.  There was an incredible salon at 61st and Memorial at one time. I did some artwork for the owner of the salon for a fashion show they were doing. But I think they have since moved and don't remember the owners name.

Marcella, what section of town do you live/work in?  How far would you be willing to drive for a salon?  I have a friend who may be able to help with a recommendation.

Welcome to Tulsa!  On an unrelated note, you may be happy to know that we too enjoy eating coneys, just like you guys in Detroit.  My personal favorite is Jim's Coney Island at 20th/Harvard.
