I have to say that the first time I entered a Rainforest Cafe I said Wow.  But mostly that was because I realized that the food was going to be a incredible rip-off, if they spent that kind of money on the decor.  My kids loved it, though.

Good suggestions on the museums--I've eaten at Philbrook, and recommend it, at least for the weekend brunch.  As for great views, aren't there some top-of-the-building restaurants downtown?  Summitt club?  Some along the river would be nice, provided they were on the west bank looking across at downtown.  Not so much looking across at the refineries.

Something like this would be nice attached to the Garden Center mansion next to the rosegardens.

Surely I am not asking for too much. [8D]
"When you only have two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one, and a lily with the other."-Chinese proverb. "Arts a staple. Like bread or wine or a warm coat in winter. Those who think it is a luxury have only a fragment of a mind. Mans spirit grows hungry for art in the same way h

You might have to make that happen youself.

lol, you'll have to go to Vegas, New York, LA, Toyko, Hong Kong of Versailles for the examples you gave.  You would also have to spend upwards of $250 for a meal.  And I would contend that I could make several of Tulsa's eateries look just as spectacular in a photo as some of those (clearly no the 100 story eatery).

In any event, if you would like to risk the 3 or $4,000,000.00 it would cost to build any one of those (on the low side) I would be happy to frequent it once every couple of years or so. Keep in mind 80% of restaurants fail.  Good luck getting that loan.

So as much as I would like a truly world class restaurant in Tulsa, one on the magnitude you imagine simply isnt going to happen in Tulsa, or OKC, Kansas City, Des Moines, Omaha... for that matter.

Your "Super WOW", "Pee in your pants WOW", and first photo are all pictures of the same place.   And it's in Bangkok.
Sirocco Restaurant
Tulsa is not Bangkok.
Tulsa is not a "Jet Set" mega metropolitan area.
Who are you kidding?
I'm surprised Tulsa supports the number of "uppity" restaurants that we have.

cannon_fodder

Come on, Bangkok only has 6 or 7 MILLION more people than Tulsa.

oh give me an eff'n break.  Those pictures are ridiculous.  Do you want to go to an art exhibit, or do you want to eat some food.  I can GUARANTEE I have had better restaurant experiences in more dumpier places than that.  Those are the places where everything comes out served with a side of SMUG.  I hope Tulsa NEVER gets places like that.

We enjoyed Table 10 and it's also a departure from what most Tulsa restaurants have done.  I applaud their nerve to try something that "out there" in Tulsa.  Tulsa has plenty of good "home cooked" meal type places but that's NOT why I go to a restaurant...I want a fun experience and something different.  If all I wanted was good, cheap food I'd cook it myself...at home.

Fayetteville doesnt have a dim sum place.  So take them to Guang Zhou.  Its not fancy, but then again compared to readl dim sum places on Hong Kong the place is a palace.

And dont let your friend tell you Fayetteville is better than Tulsa, the Fayetteville that was better than Tulsa died years ago when it became a commercialized strip of bull****.

The cool vibe of Fayetteville has slowly been replaced with weekend warriors on their shiny harleys and smug dumbasses going to some Hawgs game.

Fayetteville and Tulsa aren't too comparable, really.  Fayetteville is a much smaller city.  However, the "cool vibe" in Fayetteville is just getting started actually.  There are currently 3 urban loft mid-rise complexes under construction in the downtown Fayetteville area.  Granted, The area near the mall in Fayetteville has become a typical suburban sprawl area, but that doesn't mean the urban flavor is gone by any means.  If anything, Fayetteville should serve as a perfect example of why Tulsa needs to promote and enhance its urban identity.  Fayetteville has most of the same suburban restaruants and stores Tulsa does.  What Fay. doesn't have is Tulsa's arts scene and urban character.  Fayetteville is a very charming little city, but Tulsa is a true urban city.
Can you tell I'm a Razorback that grew up in Tulsa?

dude, if you think urban loft's lend themselves to Fayetteville's cool vibe then you obviously never lived in Fayetteville before 1994.  Its that kind of crap that has destroyed Fayetteville's cool vibe.  Dickson St used to be a down and out place where cool people hung out.  Now that they have "cleaned" it up, its just a bunch of tourist dreck that you can get anywhere.

Oh, and I'd take Fayetteville's art scene over Tulsa's any day.  There is plenty of "old art" in Tulsa, but there are very few new artists here making a splash.

What do you mean by "down and out?"
Fayetteville art scene better than Tulsa's?  They may have the Walton Arts Center and a few starving artists that live under the railroad tracks' bridges, but I don't see places like Philbrook or the Spotlight Theatre there.  Tulsa has some very nice art galleries on Cherry St.  Tulsa is a much larger city and the arts scene is not as noticable because of its vast suburban sprawl-type landscape.

I understand what you're saying about tourist dreck, but Fayetteville's loft projects allow more people to live on or near Dickson St. and the town square.  Fayetteville does indeed have some boring run-of-the-mill bars on Dickson, but there are a lot of unique places as well.  Try Common Grounds coffee shop- they also serve drinks.  Willy D's piano bar is a fun place- on Thursday night they allow you to bring any size mug in you want and they'll fill it for $1.  The regular pianist is actually a pretty talented guy.  You might enjoy Bangkok for Thai food or Pesto Cafe for Italian.  There are some very nice botiques on/near Dickson St. as well.

All in all, Fayetteville is a quaint, trendy little town that is great for a weekend getaway.

i was going to Common Grounds before it was common grounds.  CG only retains a few vestiges of cool Fayetteville.  DT fayetteville has been invaded by high dollar Tysonites and walmartians.

But I'll take fayettevilles starving art scene over a stuffy exhibit at philbrook any day of the week.  their spring fest makes may fest here look weak.

Bangkok is crap thai.  and there hasnt been good Italian in Fayetteville since Il Patio (precursor to Bordinos -which is now dreck)

Wow- now who's sounding smug? Your 'cooler than thou' attitude is tired.

You have already lost all restaurant credibility anyway with your glowing endorsements of Starbucks and Johnny Carino's.

if you even had the slightest clue about the places I was talking about you could begin to realize how wrong you are.

you lost credibility by simply existing.  you are like a turd that won't flush, so welcome to my ignor(ant)e list, its been a long time coming.
