Wow. I mean, really - wow.

Next time you're downtown, check out the northwest side of the site, where they've started installing the steel skeleton that will encompass all the concrete work built to date.

You guys aren't going to believe the size of this thing when it's done.

I was rather struck by the angle of the beams. Pretty dramatic.

jdb

"Struck by the beams", you don't mean really struck, right? As in the angle of them now sticking out of your head?

You seen the new Phoenix football stadium, looks like a puffed up marsh-mellow, maybe steriods.
Kinda cute, jdb

Double A

What, you didn't take any pictures? For shame.

No need for pictures when you have arena cam!

Like video feed of construction on the BOk Center (@ 1 frame per second).

WooT.  Who needs the NCAA.

Who needs millions in economic benefit?
Who needs sales tax revenue?
Who needs free advertising for thier city?
Wow, I can't think of a single business downtown that would benefit from that!

cannon_fodder

Well I meant who needs to watch the NCAA Tournament when we can watch the BOk Center cam.

But I too look forward to them bringing people to our fare city.

This topic prompted me to take my camera with me to work today, so I took some shots of the Steel from the 42nd floor and then got some up-close and personal shots as well.  You can view larger images (and several more images of it) here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dscott28604/

I knew it was going to be larger, but thats looking larger than I thought.  Drove around the NW side of downtown on the highway today and you can already start to imagine that it will definitely change the appearance of downtown from that side.  Will actually be a rather dramatic change once the siding goes up and its one huge structural mass. Gonna be neat to watch as it progresses this year.

I agree; I went downtown yesterday and took multiple photos.  Problem right now is on the north side (1st St side) there are so many company trailers it impedes my view.

It will be impressive once it's completed.

Working on it... looks like a power surge on the east looking one. we will reset it and see if it works and the West facing camera is still out and waiting on parts after the ice killed it.  Oh and the EXPO camera is supposed to be up sometime this week if the weather will allow for the crew to climb.

Everybody should have a couple-three of these... harder to keep running than my first car.

Without web cams I am forced to assume work has halted and bureaucrats are pocketing my money.  You have caused me to lose my faith in government.  Stupid web cams.

I drove by just to doublecheck. The steel really does look like it's making a massive structure even more massive.
