Rumour is that she requested "Counsel," specifically, the counsel of her mother.

The story I saw on Ch. 6 this evening said she refused to take a breathalizer test until she could get advice from her mother.
Ch. 6 is the only local news report I saw on the story; I saw no report on 2 or 8.

Double A

If anyone suspected of DUI refuses a breathalizer aren't their licenses supposed to be suspended right there on the spot?

There is some paperwork transition time but your license is suspended for six months.

It will more than likely take a week for it to show up on OSCN but it will....She was going to loose her license anyway if she blew.....

You get a temporary for 30 days, then your license is suspended for six months.  That 30 days gives you time to get a restricted license that allows you to drive to and from work.  In addition, you will probably have an interlock device, that will require you to blow into a machine for six months before your car will start until your license is reinstated.

Porky

I'm just glad that she was treated the same as anyone else in this situation. Speaks well for TPD.

If you're famous and in trouble with the law, you'll make the news. Refusing the breathalyzer is good advice. You can ask for a blood test, which gives you time to metabolize more alcohol before being tested.

I think the public have a right to know whether there is any unfair or preferential treatment, that is it.

Refusing any test gets you an automatic six month suspension of your driver's license, far more then if you take the test.

And, the police determine what test you take, not the person arrested.  You may request a blood test, but only after you have accepted a breath test, and then the blood test is at your own expense.  And no matter what, the tests have to be given within two hours of the arrest, so planning to beat a test because of some huge time frame won't work.

She's not famous, she's a regular girl. If I met her out and about I would have no idea who she is even if she told me her full name. You people are looking for something that isn't there.

By family matter, I was assuming you could easily translate that to personal matter. Apparently not, so I'll make it clear; It's a personal matter.
