among other things: Ci Ci's Pizza, a 2nd Taco Bueno, Popeyes, FedEx Kinko's. And possibly a Ross, Olive Garden and an Ulta.
Onward through the fog.

Where is the Kinkos going to be?

Meanwhile the city leaders, and I use that term verrrrry loosely, in Sand Springs continue to sit on their hands and do nothing.

It would seem logical for Owasso to get an indoor shopping mall in the near future.  Owasso customers represented a large percentage of shoppers at the former Eastland Mall.  The Eastland area Old Navy and Target already moved to Owasso.  People in Catoosa, Claremore, and Collinsville would probably rather go to a mall in Owasso instead of Woodland Hills if the same stores were present.

Indoor shopping malls are a dead concept. They are being replaced with outdoor shopping malls, many of which are faux replications of urban shopping districts in places like Denver and Houston, where you park and walk around.

Yeah, that's a good point.  I was just thinking in general terms.  An outdoor mall would probably serve Owasso well.  There is a new outdoor mall in NW Ark. that looks exactly like something you could place in Owasso.  The only bad thing about the new outdoor malls is the lack of temperature/weather control.  It would make sense for neighboring stores to provide interior access to each other during inclement weather.

My friend from Fayetteville was telling me about that mall in Rogers.  Kept mentioning "trendy" stores it and the area had that I had not heard of.  From the look of it, it looks nicer than anything Tulsa, I mean Owasso, would get.

Interesting demographic and income profiles on that website too. Their MSA was at 211,000 in 2000 and is expected to be over 400,000 next year.  Now thats some growth.

As for the indoor mall thing.  It just made me realize what a shame it is that they covered the outdoor shopping center near my house and turned it into the Promenade Mall. I don't know if many remember but the area used to be more like Utica Square.

I have been to the mall in Rogers.  It's pretty nice, but definitely not nicer than Utica Square.  Store selection is not bad, but almost exclusively national chains.  It's very suburban-like, and by that I mean pseudo-urban.
Overall it's a nice suburban outdoor mall, something that could concievably be built in Owasso or east Broken Arrow in the next few years.

I agree. When are we going to get SOMETHING in Sand Springs?

JCPenney should build a store at The Park at Adam's Creek in Broken Arrow next to the Lowe's.

I have been to the shopping area in Rogers, it is amazing to see that much growth in such a short time.  As for the store mix, there is nothing there that can not be found at our local indoor mall.  The design is to make it look like an old fashioned downtown.  Does not work for me.  It is still a shopping mall with tons of dedicated parking around the outside of the primary building area.  I saw the same thing at Eastern Shore in Alabama.  Lots of stores but nothing local, nothing interesting,  mostly places that fill my mailbox with catalogues.  Why go to the store when I can sit in my skivies and shop in the comfort of my own home.  It reminds me of what I see in the developing areas of North Dallas, places like Frisco.  Ugh, boring.

The store mix in Rogers makes me wonder if the national chains are trying to appeal to the Wal-mart crowd or if they are trying to figure a way into the behemoth that is Wal-mart.  Or sell out to the gorilla.   Just speculation on my part.

Store supposed to open in March 2009 despite bad economy

Even with the rough economy, JCPenney plans on opening their Owasso store in March.  This will provide a nice boost to their economy and keep shoppers closer to home.

Other stores opening in the 3rd and final phase of this retail center include:

Ross Dress for Less
Famous Footwear
Olive Garden
Carl's Jr.

...and a few others.

Could you please resize future pictures.  It kind-of throws off the entire thread to have one jumbo cant-view-it-anyway picture.

No offense.
