Will the forum bias my views as a juror? I see nothing about it in my little juror how-to book.

If you are a regular reader of TulsaNow, you know too much. They will never pick you for a trial.

The forum would only cause a problem if you were hearing a case about a developer tearing down something old or any case about the Tulsa World.

I had jury duty about a year ago.  I hated the entire process (waiting in that dungeon of a basement) until I was actually selected for a jury, then I really enjoyed it.  Have fun with it!  :)

Ditto.

The worst part of jury duty is hanging around in the pool room.  Stop by the library.

I'm just glad I got a 4 day week and not by the feds who keep you "on call" for months.

Tulsa has one of the worst jury selection methods ever.  Many states/counties have gone to a one and out system.  You come in for one day and if you are not selected for a jury you are excused for another year (at least one).  If you get selected for a jury, you're off for at least 2.

For instance, I have a law degree.  I will NEVER, EVER be chosen for a jury.  Ever.  But I will be required to sit and waste a week of my time as pool after pool rejects me.

And even for the people that MIGHT be selected, its an enormous waste of time to sit day after day because they cant get their stuff together.

I loved the time in jury duty. I was rejected by the lawyers only once and sat in the jury room for three days before we were released.

I found a guy I went to Rogers High School with and we got a group of people in the corner to engage in wonderful conversations. I met a guy who sold some stuff I needed for my business. We had two women who told hilarious stories about their husbands. Another guy surveyed us all on our views from everything to local politics to our favorite places to visit.

I impressed them all with my PDA that also serves as an universal remote by changing the channel on the television to "The Price is Right". After that every time someone got called, we all said "Come on down".

It was fun to make a bunch of new friends.

It's been about 10.5 years since the last time I got called for Jury duty.  They seated me on one jury, a personal injury case.  We went to lunch, came back and found they'd settled it.

I got called up for another jury (criminal) either later that afternoon or the following morning, and was on that trial through the end of the week.  Sure beat the monotony of sitting down in the pool room.

I don't mind if I get called again, I just don't want to sit around twiddling my thumbs.

I don't think I made many friends.  I'm a relatively quiet guy who likes to stay out of the spotlight, but when that jury I was on went to deliberations I jumped up on that stump and held it for 8 hours.

i got off that trial where the guy killed his girlfriend and her boyfriend and then killed the eye witness.  i just told the judge there was no way I could consider anything less than guilty.  I got out.

I didn't mind the jury room too bad. They had the Price is Right and I could get on the internet.

Two of my favorite things.

Court is fun too. Like watching "law and order" at half speed.

I had jury duty about a year ago, was well neato once I got picked after 3 days, spend a week on the trial.  However what amazed me was at the main entrance to the courthouse they have all that security yet down in the basement you could freely walk in with anything and the guards seemed rather bothered if you asked if they needed to check anything.

I have served on Tulsa Co. juries twice, both times were within 10 months of each other, back in the late 1990's.  I have not been called for jury duty since then.

The first time was a drunk driving case.  A one-day affair.  The second time I was on a child molestion trial, and that trial lasted 3 days.  That was a very uncomfortable and painfull trial, but I am glad I did my part to serve our justice system.  I think every U.S. citizen should serve on a jury at least once.  They would gain much insight and appreciation for our justice system with the experience.

They are "working on" this. They searched my backpack and wanded me.
