Of course I know he isn't dropping people from planes, but how does the dislike rise to the level of even thinking a joke like that is funny?

Meh. Tulsa's on a downhill slide and has been for years now, and the responses in this thread are a good example of why businesses and industries simply aren't interested in coming here. The old thanks, but no thanks.

I mean, really. Who wants to live in a poor imitation of Dallas surrounded by bigotry and ignorance and attitudes 100 years dead in most places? And so, while in the 90's, Tulsa began gaining population, it's now losing it.

Wow. Wonder why.

So what was once a pretty little city filled with all kinds of people has become a vast sprawling place of comfort for those too afraid to take a good look in the mirror and see what's really there.

As for what's happening in this thread, eh, typical. I've seen it go on on forums for years now. Whenever someone posts something that goes against the Limbaugh mindset, they get swarmed and called nasty names, even vaguely threatened, as the one post saying "oh I know who you are!" Yeesh.

Pretty sad. Then again, the towns which are really beginning to attract good attention, thanks to the ignorance of a few, don't mind a bit. So these days, Muskogee is turning out to be a heck of a lot more interesting and liveable than Tulsa. Just ask some of the transplants. And Arkansas has left us in the dust economically - hm.

But maybe one day some of you will wake up and realize the Eisenhower years were a long time ago and Ozzie and Harriet were just a television show. And in the world today,  it isn't just white dudes who have rights. Except, of course, in Tulsa.

well hey, everyone has to find their place somewhere.  Maybe all the bigoted tech companies that cant stand the left coast will move here.  Then we can have one big high paying bigoted industry.  White dudes unite!

The "Political Arena" of this particular Forum is largely reserved for those who generally have no other business being here, than to be completely obnoxious.

Hence your presence here.[;)]

IP, don't you recognize Cecilia's prose?  Give you a hint, gotta be someone else who has posted on this thread and been thoroughly shot-down.

I'm afraid you have some of your facts wrong.  You boldly stated that Arkansas is leaving Oklahoma in the economic dust.  In particular, Tulsa.

However, a quick 1 minute search yielded census bureau statistics proving otherwise:
Arkansas total personal income:  $78,521,372
Oklahoma total personal income: $115,287,512

Oklahoman's make a total of nearly $37,000,000.00 more per year.  On a per capita basis (2,775,708 and 3,543,442 respectively) that yeilds:
Arkansas: $26,681
Oklahoma: $29,998

A difference of $3,317.00 in the pocket of every man, woman, and child in Oklahoma each year.  Or $11,277.80 for the average family of 3.4.  I'd have to say that is pretty convincing that Oklahoma beats the hell out of our neighbor to the East economically speaking. On top of that, Tulsa is above the average in Oklahoma.

So I'm afraid you have been GROSSLY misinformed.

Why do people still spout out BS, dont they realize on the internet you can actually look things like that up in a matter of seconds?

How the hell did we get off on this track?  Anyway, per business in Tulsa this is rather disturbing:

Last year we ranked #43 (respectable) on Forbes list and this year we have dropped to #135.

2006

2007
http://www.forbes.com/lists/2007/1/07bestplaces_Tulsa-OK_2813.html

Basically, we were an under developed area after several really tough years and the cost of doing business was way down (labor & buildings).  Now that we have rebounded to full employment and occupancies are stable the cost of doing business has gone back up.  Good news, bad news in that light.

Also, lack of a 4 year state school really hurts us on the education-o-meter. Interesting things to look at, compare, and try to figure out where the #s come from.

Also worth noting that mediocrity in many areas gets you high in the rankings:

Hometown

Gather round my little Republican friends.  Today we are going to learn something.

Okies were the illegals of their day.  Did you know it was illegal to move from Oklahoma to California during the dust bowl days?  California had a law on the books that prevented an Oklahoman from becoming a resident there.  Okies would establish residency in another state to gain entry to California.

Okay, let's look at what happened to prop was it 187 in California.  Rivaled any hateful thing Oklahoma has done.  It passed back in the 90s.  It denied emergency treatment and school.  The California Supreme Court threw it out.  But before that the cities refused to enforce it.

Now I'm going to tell you a funny and true story.

My partner is a chef at a local restaurant.  They advertised for dish washer.  First day.  Not one call. Not one applicant.  Second day.  A small Latin woman shows up and applies.  No one else shows up.  Third day.  They hire the Latina.  Like everyone else she is required to produce documents establishing her right to be here (it's the law).  She speaks no English.  The Fourth day.  My partner is speaking Spanish to her to instruct her about her duties.  The manager of the restaurant brings a company policy book into the kitchen and points to the highlighted section that says the company has an English only policy.

Now there is sort of a Zen moment here.  We are witnessing profound stupidity.

I drive around town and guess who's doing the yard work, the construction, the roadwork, the deliveries, repairing the cars, selling you goods and buying the cars and buying the houses.

Now Latinos are the epitome of the American dream.  These people are go getters that know how to work.  And they are Christian and they are family orientated, they get married and they are having babies.  And their marriages work.

You guys can rattle all you want.  We are witnessing the Browning of the U.S.  It's been written about for decades.  Take a trip to Miami to see what a city run by Latinos look like.  Go to our two greatest urban areas – New York and Los Angeles – and you will see that today they are Latin cities.

You are walking in at the end of a story that has already been told.  It's over with.  No matter what you p*** a*** do – you have already lost the battle.

Okay, kiddies.  Sleep tight and tune in tomorrow for more fun with Hometown.

post script.  In case you were having such a good time that you missed it, Henry vetoed the anti-abortion bill.

Did you know that Oklahomans were legal U.S. citizens during the dust bowl days?

Did you know that you are in Oklahoma and we don't really care what the California courts have done.  Did you know the 9th circuit is the most over-turned appeals court in the land. FYI, we're in the 10th circuit.

I see legal immigrants chasing the American dream.

I see illegal immigrants stealing our resources, cheating our country and laughing at our laws.

As far as your observations, I guess you have a rather small area to drive around in or maybe you just spend alot of time in your own fantasy world. I see people of all races  "doing the yard work, the construction, the roadwork, the deliveries, repairing the cars, selling you goods and buying the cars and buying the houses."

By the way, what is the color of the sky in your world?

HT-

Do you want selective enforcement of the laws or do you care if we flaunt all the laws?  How about someone moving in and turning the house next to your little 1920's oasis into a crack house or meth lab?  Are you saying you wouldn't want those laws enforced?

Hey, they got a right to make a living, most likely they will be a minority.  They got rights to our emergency rooms, police protection when a some crack-head shows up with a gun, food stamps since no one can trace any sort of employment to them, free abortions, and since they are working in an all cash business, they shouldn't have to pay any taxes.

For some reason you are under the hallucination that Republicans hate immigrants.  You are in a small minority in this country, even amongst your Democrat bretheren.

I don't know anyone that tells lazy Mexican jokes anymore.  They've proven they are hard workers doing jobs most white-bread Americans won't do.  Yes, they are family people, yes they are devoutly Christian.  The ones who did not immigrate through our LAWFUL immigration channels are ILLEGALLY here and are committing FRAUD.  They are free-loading off government programs which takes funds away which could help those here legally on visas and our native-born and naturalized citizens for whom these programs are designed to help.

The ones who have immigrated legally and are working toward naturalization or here on valid work visas, I applaud.  The ones who aren't I abhor.

People streaming over the border willing to work for lower wages helps lower the standard of the wages you work for.  You B!tch louder than anyone else on this forum about how crappy your wages are and yet you don't see how people willing to work for less de-values your own wages.

Oh and another thing.  What do you think all these devoutly religious, Catholic people will think about your other pet political issue, gay marriages?

Are you going to turn around and call them hateful for not seeing eye-to-eye with you, because I can guarantee you, they won't.
