Favorite Vacation Destination?

The "Cuba" thread started to get interesting.  Rather than go too far OT there, what is everyone's favorite vacation destination you've visited?

Mine is Anegada, at the Northeast corner of the British Virgin Islands.  My wife and I went there on our honeymoon as a "back up" plan after Cozumel was hit by hurricane Wilma in Oct. of 2005.  It was a great week and re-kindled my interest in sailing.

All of the BVI's are very cool, but Anegada is like a "Gilligan's Island".  It's the only coral reef island in the chain and is 28' above the sea at it's highest point.  The size is roughly the same as Manhattan in New York and there are only 200 permanent inhabitants.  You can walk along a white sand beach for a few miles and never see another human.

Here's a few links

Another cool island in the chain is:

Route 66.

Where driving on the road IS the destination.

#1 favorite is Florence, Italy - much nicer than Rome IMHO.

Also like:
South Miami Beach for the beach, nightlife, and people watching.

San Francisco for near perfect weather, sightseeing, and lots of activities such as Napa, etc.

Understand that unlike the previous destinations I listed, I have not yet visited Latvia nor the Dominican Republic, but want to very much.

Orlando. Ormond Beach is also nice, but it's nice to be further inland. On our next trip down, we're going to the Gulf Coast to the Tampa/St. Pete area. We've never been to the Gulf before.

AND since we don't live there, the Tulsa area was a nice vacation, too, especially the Grove area.

WE've never been outside the country, but I've got to say that the Anegada looks beautiful.
Adopt an older pet. Help them remember what it feels like to be loved.

Oh, and New York, especially at the height of the seasons. I had been for a few beauty industry shows and conventions, and outside of Vegas, I can think of few cities ideal for such events!

Jammie, have you ever been to Sylvan Lake up in the Black Hills?  That place was peaceful and beautiful.  Talk about clean air!

And finally, are you guys still going to move here?

MJ- Next time you go to South Beach, allow yourself a day to go up to Fort Lauderdale and take the Discovery Sun over to Freeport, Bahamas for a day cruise.  They will shuttle you to the resorts at Our Lucaya for about four hours for beach, shopping, or gambling (since you work in the industry you may not enjoy it on your days off[;)]).

You can also do multiple night stays, if you like.  It's really more of a daily ferry service, but it's on an older, smaller cruise ship with buffets, a casino, bars, disco, etc.  It's not a Carnival-quality boat, but it's still pretty decent.  It's priced well, and if you go to Discoveries web site, they have cheap packages and run fare specials throughout the year.

We did that last year on Mother's day since I had a business meeting in Pompano for two days after that.  My wife and stepdaughter hung out on Los Olas in FTL and went down to South Beach and loved it.

Now THAT sounds appealing! THAT sounds like a thing I can do in the very near future. It'd be my first time being relatively more abroad than being on the mainland.

Double check Discovery's web site and the U.S. Customs to see whether or not you will need a passport.  I believe you do now or it may still be a Jan. '08 deadline.  It wasn't required last May at any rate.

It's the Caribbean! I can almost see it now: White sand, clear water-a Mojito in one hand (made with real Cuban Rum) and a Havana cigar in the other, just taking it all in....

I do have a passport, and keep it updated. It'll come in handy for a Bahama trip, and even trips to the Dominican Republic and Latvia (it's not out of random whimsy that compels me to want to see these:I do have my reasons for why I'd like to go).
