I am going to have a baby in January.  I am kinda new to the Tulsa area.  I was wondering if some of you could recommend a Tulsa Hospital to deliver my baby at?  Does anyone know anything about Southcrest?  Is it a good hospital? I would appreciate the help.

MichaelC

Only go to Southcrest if you want their complimentary tail, horns, and lizard skin.  It's free with every baby they deliver.

Ok fine, Saint Francis gets a thumbs up.

My uncle is an OBGYN at St. Francis, so Im biased. [;)]

I and all four of my siblings were born at St. John, and about five of my nine nieces and nephews were born there, as well (the most recent being a month ago) and nobody in my family has had any trouble with the hospital.  They've always done a great job for us!

A niece and nephew were born at St. Francis and it was pretty good, as was Hillcrest for another, but I'd avoid TRMC (now the OSU Hospital in downtown).

Both my children were born at Southcrest. The equipment is new and the staff is paid quite a bit higher than the others. Almost everyone I knew who was good at St Francis or St Johns has now moved to Southcrest because they pay better. The labor and delivery rooms are huge, wood floors, the whole nine yards.

Keep in mind that all hospitals offer tours to expectant mothers so you can make your own choices.

I would say St Francis just for the fact they have The Eastern Oklahoma Perinatal Center (EOPC)on site. Just in case something serious happens (heaven forbid).

This is the neonatal intensive care unit of The Children's Hospital at Saint Francis. It is a specialty referral hospital that serves infants from all across Oklahoma and neighboring states.

Did you take the horns and tail?  Or pay the extra $3.50 for the lobster claws?

DM

Southcrest. I have dealt with other hospitals in the area and so far Southcrest has been the best. However, my opinion is not based on the baby handling abilities, as I have never been in any of these hospitals for babies. But if I were having a baby (figuratively speaking since I am a guy) I would go to Southcrest. And let just pray that I don't ever have to worry about where to go for a baby...ever!

Neither, but I did enjoy the fact that sirloin steak and orange roughy are just some of the options the patients have to eat for free from the room service menu.

Between both children I spent over a month almost living at the hospital and I still have a favorable review of the place. That kinda says something.

In my opinion St. Francis is the best in the area.  Their EOPC is incredible.  My twins boys were born at St. Francis.  Luckily, they didn't have to go to the EPOC but it was nice knowing it was onsite.

Keep in mind every hospital has similar facilities. St Francis is just larger and takes in the indigent patients. St John's has the newest and highest tech NICU/Special Care Nursery and Both my children were in the one at Southcrest.

St. John, St. Francis, and Southcrest are all going to be about the same.  I hope I never have to set foot in Hillcrest or OSU/TRMC or whatever it's called these days.

Both my daughters were born at St. John's.  I didn't have any complaints about SJMC.  A friend of ours had a premie (six wks early) the same week my second child was born also at SJMC and they were very pleased with the care.

If your insurance is so flexible they will let you choose and you aren't anticipating complcations, sounds like Soutcrest will have the newest facilities.

I never understood, why is SouthCrest such a good hospital and Hillcrest so commonly referred to as a place you wouldnt send your worst enemy to?  They are both owned by the same entity, correct?

Or would that be incorrect?

Find a good OBGYN - A baby can be born anywhere.  What you need is a good doctor.

I would recommend Eddie Abbott - one of the best.
