Today while driving back from OKC, I noticed the roadway suddenly become ultra smooth.  Then I noticed several billboards on the side of the Turnpike indicating that portion of the road was made using a special asphalt.

Rolla Delta Chip or something like that. I wanted to write it down or stop for a photo of the road bed and the sign, but with all the recent accidents on that highway I choose to keep on driving.

Anyway, doing a Google Search I could not locate the brand or the test.  Anyone else know of the name or link to what it is.  Once the test area ended, the old portion of the road mysteriously turned the rental car which rode like a feather on clouds, into what felt like a shaking old time vehicle similar to the Sanford and Son's delivery truck... I could even hear the theme song playing. LOL

With all the moneys that the Turnpike Authority takes from us, they better do something to improve  it.

I remember reading something about ODOT trying out SemGroup's SemMaterials Polymer Modified Asphalt, so that's probably it.

i believe that is correct, ive seen the sign several times.  the sign reads something like 'you're entering a no bobble zone' and has a cartoon picture of a bobble head doll.

Yes, it is their NovaChip product that is mentioned on the signs through that test area.

Ah, my good old memories of driving around AZ. Some of the nicest roads anywhere.

Driving between Tulsa and Oklahoma City two times a week starting in May, I too noticed the almost freakishly smooth ride immediately after the toll booth heading back to Tulsa.  In fact, the first time I came home, I left the toll booth and noticed it right away.  As I drove off, I wondered if I just didn't notice how smooth the road was before or if they'd done something to it...

Then came the sign: No bobble these 21 miles.  NovaChip by SemGroup.

SemGroup: Gotta love 'em.
Now if we could just get all of Tulsa's roads paved with that stuff....

: mmmmmmm :

I think I would actually go out driving more.

Semgroup just went public as well. Ticker SGLP. Maybe there is money to be made in asphalt....

That was just single division of Semgroup. Judged by revenue, Semgroup is now Oklahoma's largest company.
