Vegetarian Needs BBQ Advice!

In just a few short weeks my entire family will descend upon my land for our annual family reunion.  One of my more gracious Aunts has offered to provide one catered meal of BBQ to cut down on the usual hours of food prep that the lady folk participate in while the men drink been under a tree.  But alas, she lives on the east coast and has asked me to organize the meal, which is fine except that  have not eaten BBQ in well over 10 years so my memory is a little foggy.  That is why I am reaching out to you.  I need to know who has the BEST BBQ in town. Now is our chance to impress carnivores from all over the country with a tender, saucy, drippy food experience, and who knows maybe one of them will relocate their corporation here and provide some jobs!  Thank you in advance!!

Rib Crib won't win many awards but they can easily handle any capacity.

I like Knotty Pine and Elmer's.

Order smoked bologna. It confuses outsiders.

Since they are from the east coast, they don't know what good BBQ is.  Maybe you should just get ribs and chicken from Reasors.

Don't know if Albert G's or Knotty Pine delivers but those are good choices.  Rib Crib won't disappoint too bad if they live out east.

Wilson's BBQ

Damn good food, decent price.  A Tulsa based business for a long, long time.  Definitely a 'local' place, not a chain. Wilson's has several locations, but in no way feels like a chain.  In NO WAY.

They have a location on the North Side on Apache and one on 11th near TU.  They cater, have to goes, or dine in.

My vote is for Albert G's, and they cater, I believe (I have been to some parties where it was served).  While Wilson's is good, too, I was unimpressed with their ribs (I prefer babyback, which they don't have).

Hello racer...long time no see.

I suggest Cowboy Sharkie's for such a meal. They have a great catering set-up (They cook all the Tulsa Drillers Bar-B-Que) and their ribs are as good as anybody's.

I like Billy Ray's for sliced brisket, Knotty Pine for bologna and rib ends, Albert G's for chopped brisket, Stutt's for links and buttermilk pie, Wilson's for potato salad and chicken, and Big Daddy's for pulled pork.

Asking who has the best Bar-B-Que is like asking what is the best color. It depends.

I think you are right recylemichael, maybe I'll just serve BBQ tofu and see if anybody notices.  The only problem with that would be the relatives from St. Louis and Arkansas...I'd be disowned!  I think I will call around and get prices, we are a more bang for your buck kinda group!

I have it the other way around.  We are carnivores/omnivores in my household.  When my herbivore sister-in-law visits we have to stock up at Wild Oats.

Some vegetarian items are pretty good, but how do you tollerate things like vegan mayonaise?  Ghack!

If you don't mind a short drive outside of Tulsa, Mac's Barbecue in Skiatook is absolutely fantastic.  Seriously, go there. :-)

Thanks everyone for your help, I think I am going with a place called The Smokehouse on West 41st.  The owner seems like a real nice guy and his distinctive "Okie" accent may give my East Coast relatives a thrill!  As for the Vegan Mayo, I'd rather eat slime than put that on a sandwich.  I do eat eggs and some dairy so I can still enjoy eating!
