I'm not a vegetarian but I do have type 2 diabetes and I've been trying to eat better. I've given up potatoes, most rice, all fried foods, ground beef, etc. and tried to cut down on my portion size.

But when I eat out I end up eating salads or Chinese, which gets old. Are there any good restaurants that have whole meals of non-starchy veggies?

I like to go to Delta Cafe when I am craving veggies.  They have a wide range of options.

Good luck on that healthy eating!

Thanks. That's a good idea. I went to Delta when I first moved here but was unimpressed by bland food. Times have changed and I'll revisit.

I like Camille's, Panera, and McAllester's for their lighter fare, mostly salads and soups.  If you haven't cut out breads, too, there are some wraps at Camille's that are very good, as well as a vegetarian panini.

May you live in interesting times.

Big Al's is always good. 15th & Harvard.

I'm a regular at Panera and Camille's. No McAlister's close. Great food but I'm looking for something different. When a vegan or vegatarian (isn't there a difference?) goes out to eat, what do they order?

Somehow I can't get too excited about Big Al's.

Oh, that just made me remember, the Atlas Grill downtown has a black bean veggie burger that is the best ever.  When I'm being a good girl on my diet, I just get the patty with that cheyenne mayo and a side salad.

Unfortunately they don't do dinner, but if you are looking for lunch. . .  Plus if you ask, they will make some for you and you can take them home and cook whenever the mood hits.  They are delicious!

BeLE, Mimi and Halim's, Oats, La Roma, Stonehorse, and Big Al's

Tried BeLe tonight. It was Ok, I guess. I thought it was funny - most of the items on the menu had "mock" meat. Mock chicken, mock beef, etc. I don't know much about vegetarians (except the obvious) but it seems odd that they are so desperate to taste meat that they would eat bean curd doctored up with artificial meat flavoring.

Not too bad but in the end, it's just another oriental restaurant - which I like a lot, just want something different. I'll try Mimi and Halims next. I've heard the service is good but slow.
