Oh ye of little faith[:D]

My sister will soon be released from the hospital. She is now off all those feeding tubes, can eat everything and anything (it's shocking really), can sit up, walk, shower and her pain meds have gone down quite a bit. She does have cancer, but chemo and radiation improved her condition drastically.

I tell you, the woman is not ready to die until the time is right.

I'd glad she is doing better.  Lets hope its a prolong wellness!

That is great news!  I honestly believe in the power of an individual's will to live being every bit if not moreso important than the meds.

What is amazing too is that I was ready (bought the funeral clothes, found a funeral home, had the mass and everything fixed up and waiting), but she sat up one day and said, "I am not going to die just yet!"

Five specialists have seen her, read her chart, examined her and still can't believe she's alive.

Yet a neighbor's husband found out he had cancer, basically decided he was going to die, and he did just that the same year.

Thanks guys.

Keep us updated. Also might be worth digging further into why your sister was reacting the way she did when they gave her Ativan since that is supposed to basically knock her out. Maybe they cut off some other meds or something.

Actually, Ativan can have the oppposite effect in some pt's tends to be elderly mostly but everyone is different.

My sister has been out of the hospital since November 2007.  She left Tulsa for Germany in md June. So much for what the doctor's said about not making it![:P]

She still has cancer and is being treated, BUT we did not give in to what they said and this is the result.

Porky, I just read back what you said and thank goodness we didn't listen to ANY of the doctors/nurses who said her demise was close last August!
