Thought it might be nice to have a thread on the River District which didnt focus on the Drillers aspect.

This is an interesting potential development even without the ballpark controversy.

Here is a link to the Architects website that I believe they are using to create the layout. You can look at other Town Square type developments they have done or are on the books.

http://www.ddg-usa.com/Projects/TC_Perkins_Rowe/Project.html

Also found this for the people who designed the Southlake Town Square that the Jenks developers mentioned as one of the inspirations for the River District.

Its interesting to note that this plan was meant to evolve in phases.  Which begs the question. Will the River District be done in phases as well? If so how long do they estimate that could take? 10 years 15 years? Or is this an all at once project with many tennants already lined up?

The Southlake project required Tifs and city funding. Will the River District ask for any of that?

This Southlake Town Square looks like it has good architectural elements to its buildings. Better than the "half stuccoe or more" Branson Landing development has. That could be a good sign for the quality of the River District.

The developer mentioned that the River District will have some civic elements worked into it.  The Southlake Town Square had a real Town Hall built with it. Again, it looks like its a quality structure.

Could there be a Jenks Town Hall in this development?

So if the river development is voted down, is this article saying this won't happen?  They will revoke their "confidence"?

Looks great btw.

Did my best to take that pic and enhance it. But just weren't enough pixels to get everything clear. However you can see some changes or differences in this "Option A" version. Yes it does appear they have listened to the comments in the other thread about connecting the ballpark to the rest of the development better. [:P] (was being facetious with that last comment sure we had nothing to do with it)

and the primary parking at the current Drillers Stadium is in the infield of the race track, right?  And that parking has, as far as I can see, one connection to the street.

I'm pretty sure the primary drillers stadium parking is off 15th street. The big lot next to the ticket booth. The racetrack is just overflow as far as I know.

Leaving Drillers Stadium after a game is far more difficult than leaving a Jenks high school football game, and the high school gets a lot more people going to thier games than the Drillers do. And trying to leave the Drillers parking lot when the horse races are going on is just plain awful.

I meant the WALKABLE connection to the rest of the development looked improved. I am floored that the first thing someone thought of in reaction to my statement was cars.  Good gawd. We just must see the world through completely different lenses.

So if you drive to a baseball game you gonna drive over to the other part of the River district, or vice versa? Or would that extra block or two be too much of an inconvenient hassle for ya?

Might be interesting to put some parking close to the main entrance and run shuttles through the shopping area to the stadium. Then make the three outlets one way in before the game and one way out after the game. Like they do Lindsay street during OU football games.

The game I went to this summer was on a weeknight, but since there was no racing that night, I parked on the infield of the racetrack.
