No I was actually told that expressjet has high turnover because they work their employees to death.

In Tulsa the gal that issued the tickets also put the baggage on the plane. She also cleaned the plane and was the one that put the handicap people on the plane. And she was also the one that took the boarding passes.

All I could figure was they had to be paying her a ton of money.

A ton of money?  Not so much......

A friend of mine applied at Pinnacle Airlines here in Tulsa.  Pinnacle is the airline that operates Northwest Flights from Tulsa.

All ground employess are expected to be proficient at all positions from selling tix, loading baggage, cleaning aircraft, and marshalling aircraft on the ramp.

(OT--Tarmac is the british word for asphalt.  Airplanes park on the ramp, not the tarmac, except in the media.)

Decent benefits.
Starting pay? #7.50 oer hour.  $9.00 after a year.

$7.50 9 an hr....wow that sounds like more of those "good jobs" the TW is bragging about that we added.

I was making that in high school over 15 years ago.  Those wages are insulting.

And they are represented by a union.  My friend said they are also represented by a union.  Sounded like most of the employees are "airline junkies."
The promote that employees get free travel.  Ok cool so when you get to Minneapolis, Memphis, or Detroit, what can you do on a 7.50 per hour job??

They certainly do have affordable fares... I just looked up Tulsa to San Diego during fall break...can take a family of four roundtrip for $700...
Power is nothing till you use it.

The Airport Authority is having a job fare, they were advertising positions that "start at $12-15 an hour" for customer service positions (presumably ticket counter, car rental counter, check in... crap like that) plus good full bennis.

While not a get rich quick scheme, those seems like fair wages to me for the position.  Considering there is no inherent skill nor education required to offer crappy service while sticking tags on luggage that will probably be lost.

Now, the $7-9 an hour is pretty brutal.  Is that for throwers or janitorial?  Then again, everyone *****es about the cost of air travel... two way street I guess.

OK, my ExpressJet trip was just as lovely this time.  And the plane was almost full on both legs, so that's good.  They just might make it after all.

I have passed the word and already looked to book San Antoio over Christmas, also looks like California might be an affordable quick vacation with direct flights.  I agree, hope it works and sticks around.

Well this sounds encouraging! My wife and I are flying Express Jet to San Diego in mid-October to visit her sister and brother-in-law.

I had never heard of Express Jet until my sister-in-law was talking about it.

XM radio in the arm rests??! Sounds awesome.
