Strong-arming over the river tax

First off, with a group as large as TYPros should they be officially adopting positions that say TYPros believes "X" on any issue? I know groups frequently do it, but why not let the members just speak for themselves? They have approved the tax as their first "political endorsement."  Why would an organization with professionals from such varying backgrounds attempt to speak for ALL of it's members by doing something like this?  One more reason not to join one of these wackjob orgs.

Secondly, it is being reported that people working for companies associated with TYPros are strongly encouraging people to support the tax and members who don't agree are afraid to voice opinions because they fear losing their jobs.

I know that some of this may be hype, but something about this seems fundamentally unfair and a bit presumptuous for an organization like TYPros.

I think the idea of a mini-me organization for yuppies is pretty ridiculous to begin with.  Grow up and join Rotary or what not.

When the Leadership in control of an organization "endorses" a cause or a candidate they run the risk of severely alienating a portion of a organization.

Case in Point:

When GTAR and the Home Builder's association LEADERSHIP endorsed and supported the Recall of former city councilors Jim Mautino and Chris Medlock, they acted as if they were speaking for the entire body of their organizations.

Yet, I kind of doubt that GTAR Member and Realtor Mrs. Medlock agreed with that endorsement..........

Are you trying to convince me that I should not like them, or that I should join?  Dear god.  Young drunk professional females on a meat market.    That image will certainly get me through the day.

How wonderful.  I couldn't care what we endorsed , I'm so there.

3500 members?  In that snobotorium circle-(ahem) of an organization?  My donkey.

Jaycees were a lot more fun to get drunk with and they actually did substantive things for the city.
