Is city name Tulsa, BOK, or QT

Once Tulsa was respected for it's name of the oil capitol of the world.  After the oil bust it continued to survive as just Tulsa.  Most of the government improvement were paid for by the pennies collected from its citizens.  What has happened?

The arena under construction is presented as the BOK arena.  This arena is Tulsa's Arena, being paid for the patrons of Tulsa county and it should be known as Tulsa's Arena.  If BOK wants an arena let them build one and shoulder the entire load.

The Expo Building that was paid for the same way, is being refereed as QT Expo Building at the fair grounds.   This is an insult to the working people who have had to sacrifice the thing they needed, to build a monument to these corporate entities.

Next we are going to build the BOK gathering places at the river with a bridge to meet on the "other side of the river.  There is a possibility that we can use the BOK pedestrian bridge to cross over and look at the dike that protects the low lands and the old garden city along with the refineries, supervised by the decades old Dike Authority to protect the west bank from flooding.

When we clean off the west side of the river are we going to do away with the dikes or build between the dikes and the river or behind the dikes where we cannot see the river?

The river development sure makes a good looking picture on paper paintings.   Does anyone think that is the proper place for it?

So are you prepared to pay $20,000,000.00 in additional taxes to pay for the "Tulsa Arena" since you don't like corporate sponsorship?  What you said is one reason why Tulsa is where it is today.  I'm not too proud.  Come on in BOk.  Come on in Quick Trip.  Let's build this city.

There is no Tulsa sound.  It's imaginary.

Shadows, you bring this up once a week.  Seriously, the debate has not changed from last week.

Companies want to be good corporate citizens by funding public projects.  The city and tax payers want those projects funded by private enterprise.  The city gets to renovate its arena and the company gets advertising.  What's not to like?

If QT did not fund such things you would be saying what a crappy corporate citizen they are.

Fork over the $20,000,000.00 yourself or stop bringing up this topic over and over and over and over and over.  Its a name on a building, it was and is always for sale.

I have always thought the Native American Name for the city was a name to be proud in telling you were from there.   Seems the newcomers don't want to be associated with the name and want the city to be known by another name.

OK, do you have any suggestions for the NAMING RIGHTS for the new city hall?   I assume you have a change for every building that cannot be related to the name "TULSA".  [:)]

But have a problem as the fine print seems to be so small on this sample ballot that I cannot determine where the 20m sale of naming rights is credited.

You failed to answer my question - as usual.  Nor did you engage of any form of debate.  You simply raised new issues to be summarily shot down, again.

1) I never advocated for the city to be known by any other name.  Does anyone forget the name Chicago because United named their arena? Or does anyone accidentally call Minneapolis "Target?"  Never heard anyone call Dallas "American Airlines" by mistake either.  That notion is just plain stupid.

2)

This isnt even a coherent thought.

3) If Williams wants to buy the building for the City of Tulsa they can hang their name on it, I would have NO PROBLEM with that at all.  POOF, an extra $72,000,000.00 for Tulsa schools... just to hang some letters on a building.  To deny that would be folly.

Explain your position.  How is it to the detriment of Tulsa?  What does hanging its name on everything do for the city?  Who is referring to Tulsa has anything but?  Where is the extra $20mil going to come from?   Just make one logical point.

Has anyone considered asking Wal-Mart if they wanted to put their name over the door of City Hall?   Would not they have the same right as QT for naming a county building for cash to build a city claimed building downtown.

Being the total population of the city is estimated to be 387,000  and the total number of those employed in the city it 430,000, I can see where their interest is putting their name on building where the people take their money and spend it, out of town in other counties.

Another bad suggestion, huh   We no gonna to have a "name your building war"?

=======================================
The spelling was changed because of the conversion of the language I understand.  The battle of Round Mountain south of the Arkansas river in the 1860 war,  the encampment at the Three Forks, along with the Great Oak tree, are the heritage's that belong to the inheritors of the lands and what we leave to them they should be proud of.  It was my intent to preserve the Native American Name although it had to be converted in its spelling.

Pray tell where you read in any post that anyone is buying or donating a building to use for advertising purposes?

There is no broad difference between using a park, street easement, or any other  citizen own property being sold to the highest bidder for exclusive advertising rights.   Come, come, when does the tort system become effective.

The entire practice is being abused already.  By your training you should make it your problem..
