Yes they're good but you don't need to run a score up because of it.

We'll see how good they are this weekend against Miami. I figure OU to beat them fairly easy in the 2nd half.

Stoops didn't run up the score. Anyone who watched the game and knows football could see that.

lsimmons

They do look good. I hope that can last all season. I still think we'll see some "growing pains" from the younger guys.

As far as them running up the score, I read a quote from Stoops where he was telling them not to score. "get down anyway you can".

They do have away of always losing that game. lol

I think Texas and Texas A&M have a good chance of beating them and the other one is Tulsa.

The reason I say Tulsa is because they will beat Miami and then beat Utah St. So when they come to Tulsa they will be full of themselves and won't be giving Tulsa much credit. That will be a huge mistake upon OU because TUs passing attack could eat them alive if it is taken lightly.

I agree, they look really good.  They have tons of athleticism and pure talent.  The QB showed poise and a nice arm.  Lets hope they look that good against a more stout opponent.

and no, Stoops did not run the score up at all.  I'm guessing you didn't watch the game.  If OU so chose, this probably could have been 100-0.  Its hard to stop the scoring when your 2nd string outplays the other guys 1st.

OU had 350 yards passing in the first half and then only threw the ball on 6 of 36 plays in the second half.

Running the ball in a passing offense is hardly running up the score.

Listed as 6.1...He's gotta be 6.9 with the afro.....

North Texas is not much of a gauge for OU.  UNT would stuggle against most IAA opponents.  They completed 50% of their passes (Not terrible), threw 3 ints to only 1 TD, and they averaged 0.5 yards per carry.  That's not a well rounded team, they numbers UNT gave up to OU, those are impossible if you have an "average" defense.  Miami should be significantly better than that.

OU should beat Miami, but they will have to work for it this time.

Best team in America....just watch.

Miami?

Cakewalk.

MichaelC

The only significant differences between Miami and UNT, is that Miami is more physical, better players at nearly all positions.  EXCEPT, the most important position of all, Quarterback.

Miami will struggle.  Miami needs it's QB to do something he's never shown he's capable of doing: being a Miami Quarterback.  They can run, but not if that's the only card up their sleeve.

Miami will have to heavily rely on it's defense.  Maybe too much.  Miami needs some OU mistakes.  If they don't get them, in the 3rd or 4th quarter, the defense may wear out and the game may turn into a slaughter.  But not as bad as OU stuck it to UNT.

A cousin of mine noticed in warm up prior to the NTS game that OU did not drop a single pass. He said it was the most perfect warm up he'd ever seen in football.

OU rules.....

Father Bob is headed for another national championship.

3 deep.....everywhere!

**sniff Sniff** Oh uh nevermind heh.....Well This will be OU's best test Defensively....Keys to the game for OU.... No turn overs...Do not allow big plays....Control the football i.e...Step it up on special teams....Establish the run which will keep the ball out of Paul Smith's hands.....And when he does have it put him on the turf....If OU does all this it should be an easy win......

Probably.

This is the game where either TU's defense plays well against a somewhat more conventional offense.  Or, TU finds out exactly how painful it is to run no-huddle the entire game.  There is a reason why teams don't run TU's style of offense: Time of Possession.  How much of a nightmare will it be to see OU's offense on the field the entire game?

I haven't checked the numbers, but I'm pretty sure both ULM and BYU dominated time of possession on TU.  That's perfectly fine and good as long as TU is putting up points, but if they struggle, it can easily make for a catastrophe of biblical proportions.
