Given the cheap nature of free WiFi, I don't know why they aren't pushing that. You'd see plenty of YP's ready to camp under a shade tree then.

That would be a nice spot for it. In the original renderings for the park. That I really liked. They had a small amphitheater and on the opposite side of the amphitheater they had a place for a small cafe type space. I reeeally hope they go with that design. However in the rendering of the fountain in the newspaper article it looked different than I remember.

Can't find the rendering you're talking about but the one I remember was a large circle with ripples so the water flowing over it would look like larger ripples, then the fountain in the middle would shoot a geyser at timed intervals.

I can't help but hope that this park is as practical (usable) and pleasant as Bryant Park in NYC.  BP is one of the most enjoyable urban parks I've ever experienced.  While our 'green' won't be as big it shares some similarities.

I think we've got a real opportunity to create a park that not only provides a much needed green space but a practical gathering spot for a variety of Tulsans downtown whether its to park and service a bike, pick up a cup of hot chocolate or iced Mocha from a shack vendor that also rents out chess pieces to use on a few permanent tables, use wi-fi, eat lunch, hear a summer concert, do a community movie night, gather as a group utilizing multiple movable tables and chairs, stroll under a canopy (eventually) of trees and enjoying the soothing sound of a water fountain or distant chatter as one makes his/her way from destination A to dest. B among other things.

All those trees would be great if we can keep those d*mn starlings or grackles or whatever those birds are that roost in areas like that and crap all over everything in quantities that are dangerous to ones health.
Anyone that has made the mistake of parking under a tree where they roost knows what I mean.... it is disgusting beyond description.

There are ways to keep birds away. Sound clips, cannons, etc.

Our park could have a soundtrack similar to AEP/PSO building.  Wouldn't that be annoying!

I don't seem to recall having to navigate bird dropping war zones in BP.  Do they roost in certain trees?

Google's coming to town...sort of...in some circles Pryor would be accepted as part of the Tulsa Metropolitan Area.

Here is an opportunity for them to give to the community and advertise themselves!  Centennial Park - Wireless Community, sponsored by Google!

Everyone thinks the building has monkeys.

We need more hawks lol. But that is a nice park. It has a good balance of feeling open yet cosy. Thats one thing I dont like about the park in front of the BOK tower. Its very clumsily designed, poor sight lines, chopped up. The trees that were planted there are either not the kind that grow tall or are still young and will hopefully get better with time. As it is now they block the space and dont make it inviting.

Concrete is poured for part of the ampitheater area. Finally found the old link to the plans:

As I understand it, it will have free wi fi, thanks to Cox Communications . . . .

The fountain does look close to what they had in the rendering. I understand they are not doing the wall at the moment due to funding constraints. I really hope they do the small amphitheater as well as it looks in the rendering. Please do things right, even if you have to wait. Dont do lots of rinky dink junk all over the city, that never adds up to anything real. Here is keeping my fingers crossed.

Current construction makes it look like someone reveresd the plan, with the ampitheater on the NE corner instead of the SW one.
